Rafe and Hayato immediately approached the person who had called them. Two male students whispered to each other. Meanwhile, a female student handed them a book lying on her desk. Rafe and Hayato took the book in confusion.
"These are the rules you must follow while in this academy. It also contains the punishments you will receive if you break them. It also contains the class schedule and other things about Elexia Academy," the student explained.
"I see. So it's basically a contract between an aspiring adventurer and Elexia Academy. Isn't that right, Miss?" interrupted Hayato while striking a pose by wiping his fringe.
"Perhaps," the student replied with a puzzled look.
"This is your emblem, use it as a necklace, a pin, a bracelet or something else. As long as you can continue to wear it as a student of Elexia Academy," the male student said as he handed over a wooden emblem in the shape of a circle with the number one carved in the center.
"Wood?" muttered Rafe as he took the emblem.
"Doesn't it come with the Adventurer's Card?" asked Hayato.
"Your adventurer's card and uniform will be given to you in a week, after you officially become a student of the Elexia Academy," the student replied.
"From here, just go to the hallway over there, there will be other students who will show you to your class," the female student said, pointing to the hallway of the building.
Rafe and Hayato nodded and followed her directions. On the way, Hayato explained that the wood was the mark of an F-rank adventurer, and the number one carved on the wood was the mark of a first-year student at Elexia Academy. In order to graduate as an adventurer, one must stay at the academy for four years until graduation.
The Adventurer's Rank may change as students progress through the Academy; their official Adventurer's Rank will be based on their rank when they graduate. Thus, Rank F students still have the opportunity to advance to a higher rank during their time at the Academy.
Rank E usually receives an Iron emblem, Rank D receives a Copper emblem, Rank C receives a Silver emblem, Rank B receives a Gold emblem, Rank A receives a Platinum emblem, Rank S receives a Diamond emblem, and Rank Hero receives an Adamantite emblem. Meanwhile, the chance of an adventurer increasing his or her rank after graduating from the Academy would be lower, as an adventurer would have to fulfill many conditions in order to increase his or her rank.
It could be seen that many other groups of students were beginning to pass them by. Every other group of students that passed them seemed to be whispering and occasionally laughing, but Rafe and Hayato didn't care. They continued to walk leisurely, discussing the rules of Elexia Academy and other matters.
"So the highest adventurer rank is Hero Rank?" asked Rafe after hearing Hayato's explanation.
"No, it isn't. There's actually a rank that has the highest levels, the Myth Rank. But so far, no one has been able to reach the level of Myth Rank, even the adventurers who have reached Hero Rank can be counted on their fingers in this Ruttera Kingdom. Of course, the exception is people from other worlds like me, they usually have already reached Hero Rank since they came to this world," Hayato explained proudly.
"Obviously, you only have rank F," Rafe scoffed.
"That's because your bad luck rubbed off on me! You ancient human, when I should have been able to awaken my powers earlier in the test," Hayato grumbled with an annoyed look on his face.
The two of them continued to follow the directions of the other academy students until they finally arrived at the Rank F classroom. Elexia Academy had four buildings that were used as classrooms for each year, namely first year, second year, third year, and fourth year. Each classroom building had nine floors.
Rank F students would occupy the lowest floor on the first floor, Rank E students would occupy the second floor, and so on up to Rank Hero on the eighth floor, while the ninth floor was usually left empty and locked.
An Academy student is not allowed to enter a classroom higher than his or her current rank, for example, Rank F students are not allowed to enter Rank E classrooms, and so on. However, Rank E students may enter Rank F classrooms, and so on, according to their rank.
However, first year rank F students may enter the classrooms of second, third, and fourth year rank F students. Likewise with other classes, even first year rank E students can still enter the classrooms of second, third and fourth year rank F students. The same is true for other levels, as stated in the Elexia Academy rulebook.
"Looks like the Rank F classroom is the biggest of all," Hayato said as he arrived in front of the first year classroom building, looking like the Rank F first year classroom was the biggest even compared to the second year and others.
"There are already a lot of people inside," Rafe said as he entered the classroom. All the teenagers seemed to be chatting with their new acquaintances.
"Look, he's the one who wanted to hug Princess Mia earlier," a girl said, pointing at Rafe.
Suddenly, the other Rank F students turned their attention to Rafe. Elena, who had been sitting quietly by the window, joined in, staring at the newly entered Rafe, followed by Hayato behind him.
"You're the pervert who peeked at my grandmother! How dare you show your face in front of me again!" Elena yelled as she stood up and pointed at Rafe.
"Huh?" the other students were shocked to hear Elena's words, some of them even shuddered in disgust.
"Huh? Have we met before?" asked Rafe, pretending not to recognize her.
"You think I'll forget your face, huh? Don't pretend you don't remember," Elena snapped as she pulled the chair she was sitting in closer to Rafe.
"Hahaha... Enjoy your fate, ancient human jinx, now main characters like me will shine in this class full of NPCs," Hayato mocked while wiping his bangs.
"Ah! He's the one who farted loudly during the test!" a male student shouted while pointing at Hayato.
"Hahaha..." suddenly, the entire Rank F class laughed while looking at Hayato.
"Hahaha... the main character farted!" taunted Rafe while laughing too.
"It wasn't a fart! I was just letting out the wind that was clogging up my hidden power!" argued Hayato, his face flushed with embarrassment.
"You're laughing!" snapped Elena as she swung her chair at Rafe, but Rafe nimbly jumped back to avoid the swinging chair.
"Ouch!" shrieked Hayato, who was hit right in the right hip by the swinging chair.
"Hahaha!" the other students laughed again when they saw Hayato grimacing in pain.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry, I wanted to beat him up," Elena asked worriedly.
"Maybe I'll die," Hayato said softly while closing his eyes, his body seemed to be convulsing.
"Don't die here!" shouted Elena as she slapped Hayato's cheek.
"Ouch!" Hayato screamed again in shock from the slap as he pretended to faint.
"What kind of world is this? Shouldn't a pretty girl like you give artificial breath to the fainted main character? Why did you slap him instead? Isn't she my harem candidate?" Hayato thought as he endured the pain in his waist and cheeks.
"Hahaha... just keep hitting him, he'll wake up again, I'm rooting for you angry girl," Rafe said while laughing at Hayato's slapping.
"You called me an angry girl! I won't forgive you, you peeping perv!" Elena grumbled as she stood up to glare at Rafe.
"Fireball!" yelled Elena as she extended her right hand toward Rafe.
