Chapter 9 - The Night Fox

"Even an assassin like you wouldn't be able to dodge such a wide-ranging attack!" the masked witch shouted.

"Hehehe... I had no intention of dodging," Rafe said with a grin.

At that moment, a burning flame began to appear in front of Rafe, the flames seemed to come out of his palm, the longer the flames grew, forming a giant bird figure, exactly the same as the magic used by the masked witch, suddenly it made the masked witch very surprised to see it.

"What is this? How can he use the same Phoenix Blast magic as me? No, he didn't use it, I didn't feel any changes in his mana," the masked witch muttered with a confused look on her face.

"Uhuk!" Rafe coughed and spit blood from his mouth, his breath coming in short gasps.

Sweat began to drip from his forehead, and his body seemed to shake. Meanwhile, the giant firebird magic that had been created in front of Rafe instantly shot out to hit the giant firebird magic used by the masked wizard. The rumbling wind began to blow so hard that ashes from the grass and trees began to fly into the air.

The sound of a violent explosion could be clearly heard. The ground in the forest shook violently, the trees around Rafe's battle area immediately caught fire, the ground there also scattered under the impact of such a powerful explosion, and sparks of flames also spread and flew to various parts of the forest. The wind caused by the collision of the same two magics began to blow very strongly like a storm.

All the adventurers and people in the carriage group felt the impact. Some of the items on the carriage began to scatter as they were blown away by the wind waves, all of the residents who were there began to scream in fear, and the horses they were using began to fidget and make noise without stopping. The ground on which they stood began to shake like an earthquake, and some of the horses even swayed and fell to the ground in fear.

Meanwhile, thick dust covered the area where Rafe and the masked witch were fighting, and tree trunks were scattered as they fell in the wind. Meanwhile, a large pool of land had been created by the effects of the two Phoenix Blast spells. Smoldering flames still seemed to be burning in several spots of the earthen basin.

Rafe was still smiling at the edge of the pool, and the silver-masked witch was still floating in the air with a confused expression on her face. She hadn't expected Rafe to be able to do such a thing.

"Unbelievable, it's not an imitation, it's completely real. Somehow I can even sense my mana from the Phoenix Blast magic he used," the masked wizard muttered.

"Is that your best attack, Wizard?" taunted Rafe, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.

"Looks like you hurt yourself, Assassin. Are you sure you don't want to give up with a wound like that?" said the masked wizard as she extended her wand towards Rafe.

At that moment, nine small red-hot magic circles appeared in the air, and points of blazing fire appeared in the center of the magic circles aimed at Rafe. But Rafe was still standing nonchalantly, holding ten pieces of tree branches in his hands.

"Wounded? Hehehe... don't joke, I can't possibly be injured by a raw magic attack like that. This blood coming out of my mouth is just part of the art of combat," Rafe replied with a laugh.

"It looks like you're the one who's running out of mana, are you going to attack me with small magic? Don't you know that big attacks have no effect on me?" taunted Rafe.

"Don't get cocky yet, Assassin. Do you think I would still be standing here if I thought I was going to lose?" the masked wizard asked.

"Hehehe... You were going to lose from the beginning. You may still have skills that you are hiding, but right now you have no chance of defeating me," Rafe said, clenching his right fist.

Just then, a bolt of lightning enveloped Rafe's right hand, and the bright flash in his hand was able to illuminate their battle area.

"This is your last chance, Wizard. Tell me your name!" Rafe shouted with a serious look on his face.

"I, the Night Fox of the Silver Mask, will never reveal my name to a weakling like you!" the masked wizard said as she stomped her wand forward.

At that moment, the fire points from the nine magic circles began to form spears of fire, then they simultaneously shot out at Rafe at high speed, after one came out, another spear of fire would appear, which never ran out like rain.

"Too bad, your name will be added to the list of people directly killed by Rafe Lostfield, the Clown of Neutron," Rafe said as he swung his right hand forward.

The lightning in Rafe's hand began to spread like roots, the branching lightning bolts darting toward the oncoming rain of fire spears. As Rafe's left hand threw nine pieces of twig to nine different locations in the distance, the remaining one piece of twig seemed to begin to be enveloped by the lightning element in his left hand.

The sound of explosions was heard in succession as the branching lightning hit the fire spear magic used by the masked witch, the difference being that each time a branch of lightning was destroyed and exploded, a new branch would grow and shoot out to hit the other fire spear magic, the longer the branching lightning came closer to the masked witch.

"What is this magic? The form is smaller, but endless, as if it would sprout endlessly, even the mana it mobilizes is not much," the masked witch thought as she hovered higher to stay away from the lightning branch that was creeping closer to her.

"With such limited mana, I can't attack her, and he hasn't dared to approach me since the beginning, even though our mana difference is huge," Rafe muttered as he stopped his magic.

"He stopped?" thought the masked wizard as he continued to shower Rafe with his fire spear magic.

"I need to close the distance," Rafe said, looking down as if he were in a running stance.

Dozens of fire spears shot out of the sky toward him, but in the blink of an eye, Rafe's body was gone. The sound of loud explosions could be heard in succession as dozens of fire spears hit the ground where Rafe was standing, the masked wizard looking even more surprised when Rafe was able to dodge their attacks.

"He dodged? No, he vanished. My attack can beat the speed of an A-rank assassin, there's no way he can dodge it," the masked witch said.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning rushed down from below, and the masked witch immediately aimed her dozens of fire spears to block the attack. There was an explosion in the air as the lightning hit the fire spears blocking it.

But it didn't stop there, now there were nine lightning bolts coming from nine different places in the forest, suddenly the masked witch was even more shocked because now it seemed like there were nine people attacking her from nine different places at the same time.

This time, the masked witch directed her fire spear magic at the nine lightning bolts one by one, and a strong explosion sound was heard along with the wind blowing from the nine impact points. Unknowingly, a tree branch, still held by Rafe, now floated near the masked witch.

"Tree branch?" muttered the masked witch.

"You were so focused on the mana attack that you didn't even feel the movement of the branch I threw at you," said Rafe, who had suddenly grabbed the branch near the masked witch.

"You? What the hell is going on?" the masked witch wondered.

A punch landed right on the masked witch's stomach, and the masked witch screamed in pain. Her body shot downward as it was bounced off by the powerful punch from Rafe's right hand, a loud crashing sound was heard as the masked witch's body hit the ground.

The silver mask she was wearing was also knocked off by the impact, and blood seemed to flow from her nose and mouth. But Rafe's figure was suddenly close to the masked witch who was lying weakly, the witch's mouth seemed to move as if she was about to say something. Rafe clenched his right fist, a bolt of lightning seemed to envelop his hand, which he was about to use to smash the masked witch's head.

"Stop Rafe! Don't kill her!" came Hayato's voice from the distance.
