Chapter 14 - Passive Skill: Plot Armor

"Hayato concluded that you were an errand boy for the Neutron Party, but I concluded that you were one of their disciples. That's why Hayato challenged me to see what you're capable of, he said if you survive my strongest attack, then you're a Neutron disciple," Nia replied with a smile.

"Hey, you tried to kill me on purpose, didn't you?" grumbled Rafe as he grabbed Hayato's collar.

"N-no. I was sure you would survive," Hayato replied fearfully.

"Tch. You freak, if I die, then you're the one who will suffer if Xavier really rises. In the past, I was the only one who could corner Xavier," Rafe grumbled as he finished the drink in his glass.

"From your words, it sounds like you were instrumental in Xavier's defeat," Nia said as she gave Rafe a sharp look.

"Of course I told you I was a member of Neutron," Rafe said.

"He wasn't lying at all, which is hard to believe. But the history books never mention that Neutron had eight members, there were only seven," Nia thought with a confused look on her face.

"We're sorry. But we still don't believe you because none of the history books have Rafe Lostfield as a member of Neutron," Nia argued.

"Huh? You trust books more than the Acedia Era people themselves?" asked Rafe with an annoyed look on his face.

"Then how about you prove it," Hayato suggested.

"I've already beaten you even though there's a huge difference in mana between us, isn't that enough?" asked Rafe while looking at Nia.

"That's surprising, but I'm sure even a Neutron disciple can do it," Nia replied.

"Then how do I prove it?" asked Rafe.

"We'll find other Neutron members and have them explain, or we'll look for historical evidence that proves you're a member of the Neutron party," Nia explained.

"Okay, I accept your challenge, but don't cry if your conclusion is wrong," Rafe said confidently.

"Of course I won't cry. If you lose, then you must become my student, while if you win, then I will be willing to be your slave for the rest of your life," Nia said with a smile.

"Master!" Hayato mumbled unwillingly, his face visibly reddening.

"You don't have to go that far," Rafe said with a deep sigh, then he grabbed a bowl of food and started to enjoy it.

"By the way, Hayato once said that you have a passive ability, while we know that every living being has only one ability, are you not lying?" asked Nia.

"There's no point in me lying to him unless I know he's going to tell someone else," Rafe replied, alluding to Hayato.

"I'm sorry, trust that my teacher can be trusted as well. She won't tell anyone," Hayato interrupted.

"Yes. I won't tell anyone, after all you already know my current abilities," Nia said.

"Then, during our fight that time, I also saw a strange thing you did, you were able to use my strongest magic attack without using mana equivalent to what I needed, even I felt my mana from your attack. Is that your ability as well?" Nia asked.

"Yes," Rafe replied as he continued to eat.

"You also withstood the previous master's attack for the first time, is that also your ability?" asked Hayato, who also looked curious.

"Yes," Rafe replied shortly.

"You were also suddenly in nine different places in a very short span of time, you were also suddenly in the air in front of me, although I don't think you were running fast, but it was as if you were changing places in an instant, is that also your skill?" asked Nia.

"Yes," Rafe replied quickly.

"Unbelievable. So you have four abilities?" asked Nia with a shocked look on her face.

"No, I don't. I only have three abilities, but this time I will never tell you more about my abilities," Rafe explained with a smile.

"Three skills? Didn't he clearly say all four?" Nia thought.

"Then how did you get those three skills? Do Neutron members also have three skills?" asked Nia.

"Yes. They also have three skills," Rafe replied as he put down the empty bowl.

"Then how did you and them get all those skills?" asked Hayato enthusiastically.

"Hmm... how," Rafe mumbled as he thought.

"When I fight, it's like Hyah! Baam! My blood feels so hot, then Boom! Gyah! I get my skill and it affects the opponent directly, after that every time I remember Boom! Gyah! I can use my skill right away," Rafe explained after pondering while demonstrating his feelings with both hands.

"Huh?" said Nia with a confused look on her face.

"Huh... I forgot he was like that," Hayato said with a disappointed look on his face.

"So you just randomly named your passive skill Plot Armor?" asked Hayato again while scratching his head.

"No, all my skills are named by Lyn," Rafe replied with a proud smile. But Hayato's expression suddenly changed.

"You mean Lyn Grisvil?" asked Hayato in a serious tone.

"Yes. Lyn named all my skills and then my other friends agreed. Rex even laughed and called it the best name for my skills," Rafe replied proudly because all his skills were named by the girl he loved.

"Impossible, I see. Now I understand," Hayato said with a serious look on his face.

"What do you understand?" asked Nia.

But Hayato looked sharply at Nia. Nia who understood immediately closed her eyes and then took a deep breath to use her skill, at that moment her mind connected with Hayato's mind.

"What do you understand, Hayato?" asked Nia in Hayato's mind.

"I told you that Ryuu Fukuya, who is a member of Neutron, is most likely the same person as me, right?" asked Hayato.

"Yes. Then what's wrong?" asked Nia.

"What's wrong is that it's not just him, but it seems like all the Neutron members are just like me," Hayato explained.

"Impossible," said Nia.

"Yeah, doesn't that make sense with some of the evidence in the story?" asked Hayato.

"But it seems that they didn't tell their own student, so we don't need to discuss it in front of him out of respect for them," Hayato continued while looking at Rafe.

"I understand, but I need to make sure first," Nia replied.

"Hey, you guys are talking about me in secret, huh?" asked Rafe while giving Nia and Hayato a sharp look.

"Eh? No, I'm just thinking about my future wife who I haven't met yet," Hayato replied with a grin.

"Don't mind what he says, he's weird," Nia said as she took a sip from the drink in her glass.

"Hahaha... it turns out your teacher agrees with me, you freak!" taunted Rafe as he laughed out loud.

"Tch, you're just as weirdly stupid! You thought your explanation was something I could understand, huh!" grumbled Hayato.

"At least it's a lot easier to understand than using weird words," Rafe said.

"I'm afraid I don't understand your explanation of the skill either," Nia said as she smiled at Rafe.

"Look who's being weird this time!" scoffed Hayato.

"Oh, it turns out that teachers and students are just as weird! No wonder you can be both teacher and student," Rafe grumbled.

"Huh? You think someone other than us would understand your explanation, huh? Don't equate me with that freak!" snapped Nia, who seemed equally annoyed to be equated with Hayato.

"Uh, look, you're the weirdest one here, Hayato. Even a freak like your teacher doesn't want to be compared to a freak like you," Rafe taunted.

"You challenged me huh!" snapped Hayato while glaring at Rafe.

"You want to die, huh! I beat your teacher, let alone you!" shouted Rafe, returning Hayato's glare.

"Though I was hoping that with a hint from you, maybe Hayato could awaken his skills," Nia said as she sighed deeply.

"Master," Hayato said with a disappointed look on his face because Nia had spilled the beans.

"Eh? Doesn't he have any skills?" asked Rafe while holding back his laughter.

"Yeah, he really wants to keep it a secret. He's useless, while usually people summoned from another world get very terrible skills, but he doesn't even have any skills," Nia replied with a smile.

"Huh, you're dead! Your secret is out, hahaha! You're weak, you have no skills," Rafe taunted with a satisfied laugh.

"Eh, wait a minute, another world?" said Rafe, suddenly stopping his laughter after realizing that Nia had uttered a strange word.
