Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

In the afternoon, Erwin enjoyed a pleasant chat with Ruby at the Wood Hotel, and as evening approached, he escorted her down to the lower floor of her rented apartment.

"Erwin, would you like to come up to my place for a bit?" Ruby invited tentatively and shyly, her expression a mix of reluctance and fear.

It's alright, I should head home. Get some rest early," Erwin replied with smile, noting the lateness of the hour and his concern that a man and woman together might struggle to contain themselves.

"Okay then, be careful on your way!" Ruby was a touch disappointed but quickly regained her composure for Erwin before leaving.

"Yeah, you should turn in early too!" After waving goodbye, Erwin hopped into his Ferrari and drove off.

Ruby watched the priced car disappear for quite some time, then reluctantly turned to enter her apartment.

The tranquil night passed, and the next morning Erwin, driving the Ferrari, arrived at the entrance of the Star Hospital of Bandung City.

Today was his college friends reunion, but beforehand, Erwin to visit his best friend's girlfriend, Monica, before persuading Daniel to join the class gathering.

"I wonder how they're holding up?" Erwin murmured, holding a bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruit. Having inquired about the ward in advance, he headed straight to the inpatient department upon entering the hospital to locate the room number.

Soon, Erwin found Monica's ward, witnessing Daniel tenderly spoon-feeding her porridge. Though Monica appeared frail her eyes shone with affection for Daniel.

For a moment, Erwin envied thier bond, convincing himself that true love still existed in the world.

"It's already quite romantic in here this morning," Erwin commented with a smile as he entered, placing the basket of fruit and flowers beside Monica's bed.

"Oh, you're here already," acknowledged Daniel with a grin, offering his seat to Erwin.

With no hesitation in Daniel's presence, Erwin took the seat, then turned his attention to Monica, who lay in the hospital bed.

"Sis, how are you feeling, and when is your surgery scheduled?"

"My health is stable for now, but the surgery might need to be postponed. We haven't found a suitable kidney donor. And Erwin, thank you so much. When everyone lost hope, you were the one to help us," Monica said, her face pale but her eyes radiating gratitude. Daniel had informed her of Erwin's generous loan, for which she was profoundly grateful.

"Yes, witnessing your relationship reminds me of the world's beauty," Erwin responded with a smile, albeit with a hidden concern in his heart. After a brief chat, he excused himself to the restroom.

Finding a quite spot, Erwin took out his phone and called Adam, hoping for earlier operation since waiting could reduce the success rate. He wished to provide further assistance secretly.

The call connected promptly, and Adam's enthusiastic voice rang out. "Young Master, is there an issue?"

"I have a dear friend suffering from uremia who urgently needs surgery and care. I need your help to find a suitable kidney donor and arrange for the best surgeon. Remember, cost is no concern," Erwin stated directly.

"No problem, Young Master. I'll organise the top surgeon and find a suitable kidney donor as quickly as possible. You needn't worry," Adam assured, not wishing to disappoint.

"Great, I'll send through my friend's details, the hospital name and ward number number, but ensure they don't know it's me helping them," Erwin reminded.

"I'll keep it confidential," promised Adam guaranteeing no information leak.
