Chapter 6 - A WITCH IN CAMP

"Mother Lucius" Young Lucius Called aloud with a sense of humor. He seem so excited with himself.

"Yes child" she turned to his direction wondering the reason behind his estacy.

"Mother I carried two logs of wood!" He danced around happily.

"You carried two logs of wood?" She asked with surprise.

"Yes mother, and the fathers said I'm a strong lad" he jumped happily.

"Indeed you are my dear" she smiled at her son.

Again it was time for dinner at the camp . Everyone was at the business of either doing this or that. Young Devlin hurried up and down running errands either for the mothers or the fathers.

He was really a changed lad now, and this was a great and pleasant improvement.

"Warrior Devlin !"

Someone shouted from his back. He was beyond astonishment. He had only just told his mother and Madame Reynolds about his big dream, and it seem like not only them had heard it. Miss Carol was there too but she isn't a gossip.

He turned around to see who this person was.

"Lyon?".

"Warrior Devlin " Lyon repeated.

"Shhh…how did you know of that huh?" He asked feeling uneasy.

"I overheard you speaking to your mother about wanting to be a warrior " he chuckled childishly.

"You were ears dropping and you know it is a bad thing to do" he frowned with annoyance.

"I'm sorry but I was only there at that moment, I didn't mean to ears drop" Lyon pleaded.

"Don't tell anyone okay?".

"Yes I wouldn't " Lyon smiled happy he had been forgiven by his best friend. " I would be second in command in your army" he boasted.

"I shall not just be a warrior but a warrior king " Young Lucius raised his shoulders with pride.

"Huh?, then I shall be your army commander that's better" Lyon jumped around with excitement.

"No you shall be just a warrior, just a knight in my army" he said causing a frown on Lyon's face.

"Why…, but I'm your friend " he murmured with pain.

"Because you're too weak Lyon, my army commander must be the strongest! But you are not".

Young Lucius said with irritation. Irritated at his friend's thin body.

"I am strong Lucius! I am, my mother told me I am the strongest!" He raised his hands showing his muscles.

"My mother tells me that too" he mocked.

"Until you are being told by others of your strength that's when you will get to know the truth, anyways it's time for dinner they must be waiting for us" he hurried away.

"What if I prove to be stronger than everyone else ?" He said running behind him.

"Whatever Lyon" .

Few minutes later

Young Lucius and Lyon soon got to the diner tent. Everyone was already sitting, and it was obvious they were waiting for them.

"We are so sorry for delaying dinner" they both chorused. For that was the custom. You had to apologize for any delay you caused, "time is not our friend " were the words of the elders.

"It okay children " the adults said warmly.

Just as each family was about serving their dinner a woman completely adorned with white velvet and a white veil on her face appeared from their left.

Everyone was beyond astonishment.

"Who are you ?" Someone boldly asked from the crowd.

But the white clothed woman did pay anyone a glimpse.

She walked briskly to Madame Reynolds side of the mat looked around ask if searching for something.

She saw him sitting close to his mother with panic on his face. With a smile on her lips she walked up to him held his hands and started muttering some esoteric words .

Suddenly she stood up still holding his hands.

"Fam…fam… you shall be gret! Peri…peri…but peri you will face , gret …gret…shall you bei onto the mortal but lest in the realm of the spirits" .

Poor Lucius cried as he felt a sharp pain on his hands , it was like they were put on a burning fire.

" Mother…" he cried with deep agony. But his mother was already beyond this earth and no one could do anything.

Just as she finished her words she headed right not going back to her previous entrance.

"God! What was that?" Madame Reynolds stood up heading to meet Lucius.

Amazement was the word spelt out on he faces of the crowd.

"Who is she?" People wondered.

"She is not around here I think" someone said from the crowd.

"How will you know that?" Another questioned.

"Did not you pay any notice to her accent?

She said "gret " instead of "great! "And "bei" instead of saying "be " and all other errors " miss Carol said with uneasy.

"I think she is a witch!" Madame Devlin finally spoke out.

"I saw her in my dreams" Young Lucius cried this time with fear and not pain.

"You mean you have seen her before now?" Madame Reynolds panicked.

"Yes mother I have" he answered rubbing his hands.

"How is your hand? Do you still feel pain?" His mother took his hands on hers.

After staring at it for a while she was drawn to something.

"What is this? " she shouted , fear suddenly came upon everyone at dinner.
