"Kiss me, we might never happen to see each other again " he held her waist.
She felt the pain she had felt years ago.
"Kiss me good bye duchess" were his last words to her on the Eve to her marriage.
Was their love never meant to be?
She placed her lips on his with the same fervor he felt.
They kissed passionately until it felt like the whole world was underneath them and they had a choice to love each. But that was impossible they had not.
All thoughts on King Edwin's mind were on taking her to his bed. And he tried not to dwell on them. He knew he could not. It was a great taboo.
"You have until tomorrow " he said as they pulled away from each other. "Or.. you become my wife". He teased.
"Thank you your highness " she wrapped her hands around his neck . With a smile she said." If only fate had not been against us".
"Hmm" he sighed." We have to go back now or.. I might do something…and you will have no choice other than becoming my wife" he gave a funny laugh.
"Yes we must " she laughed wholeheartedly.
Back in the throne room. Grit paced around deep in thoughts, wondering the reason for the delay in their arrival.
"What is your trouble gentleman?" Carol whispered into his ears.
"Hmm" he sighed.
"You do not mind to share do you?".
She smiled.
"I was just wondering why Madame Reynolds is not …".
He had not completed his sentence when she placed her finger on her mouth telling him to shut up.
"Sshh". She whispered " someone might hear you".
"Why? You are always telling that" he rolled his eyes.
"You are always talking about the things you should not be talking about " she eyed him.
"Am I " he narrowed his eyes.
"Yes, you are".
"Hmm" he sighed. "Then You should not ask me about my thoughts next time ".
"You should keep them to yourself " she hissed.
"I thought you were a reticent lady " he stared hard at her.
Avoiding his eyes she said "I thought you were a gentleman " she felt a sudden discomfort standing by his side. Was it the way he was staring at her or..was it because she does not want him to say something else? She walked away from his side and stayed by the side of Madame Devlin.
"I smell the fragrance of new love" Madame Devlin smiled at her.
"Huh? Really? Where ?" she smiled excitedly.
"Between you both of course". She chuckled.
"We…? You mean Grit and I? "She laughed hysterically.
"Huhmm" she nodded. "Or…do I smell wrong ?". Her gaze fell on Grit and then back on Carol.
"Well…I thought him a gentleman but it seems I was wrong ". She folded her arms.
"Did he say anything obscene?". Madame Devlin gave him a hard look.
"No…no.. he did not " she quickly defended. "Just that he talks too much".
"Oh..really?". Madame Devlin laughed. "Devlin was a talker too but I later began enjoying his verbosity. She laughed wholeheartedly.
"Huh?" She narrowed her eyes." I do not like people who talk too much " she frowned.
The presence of the king was announced. They both walked into the room with pure smiles on their faces.
"Your majesty" they all bowed.
King Edwin began, "Concerning the matter on ground ,after much discussion we have come to an agreement which is…". He smiled at her and held her hands.
