Eric sat quietly in one of the worn chairs in the tailor's shop, the smell of various fabrics filling the cramped space. He turned his body toward the window, and was instantly refreshed by the faint scent of bayberry blossoms that wafted through it.
Eric and Evelyn are about to become engaged. Ever since Eric and Evelyn had spent a wonderful night together in the cabin, Evelyn had come to Alpha the next day, holding Eric's hand, and telling her father excitedly that Eric was her mate.
Eric could not forget the look of shock on Evelyn's father's face when he heard the news, and Alpha could not believe that this man, worthless as a rogue, was his daughter's mate.
Eric could see that Alpha was reluctant to marry Evelyn to him. Evelyn was, after all, the only daughter of the alpha, and her future husband would inherit the pack. Evelyn should have married an alpha or beta, not a rogue.
