Sara checked into a small motel, her eyes were red and swollen from crying. The more she remembered what happened, the more tears poured down her face. She knew she couldn't stay in the motel alone. She wanted to get over all this and decided to go to a club to drink and forget her sorrows, to forget all the betrayal.
Sara stood up, wore a sexy short red dress, put on makeup, and a bright-colored lipstick on her lips. The red dress made her look very hot and sexy, she was happy with her new appearance. She looked at the mirror assessing her body and then left.
"Hello, damsel," the stranger whispered into Sara's ear.
The club was very loud, you needed to shout or come very close to the person before being heard. Sara turned around to see who the person was, she was marveled by his appearance and, by that time, she was already drunk.
Sara saw a tall young man with a strong athletic build, piercing blue eyes, and a charming smile. His dark hair and smooth golden skin added to his rugged charm, making him a commanding and irresistible presence.
Sara tried to get a clearer view of his face, but her vision was quite blurry. The stranger was interested in her, and they drank and danced throughout.
The next morning, Sara tried opening her eyes but was struck by a sharp headache. She touched her head, tried to fix her vision, and wondered where she was. She looked around and found out that she was in a different room with a strange man lying very close to her, and her dress scattered on the floor.
Then she realized she just had a one-night stand with a stranger. She hated herself and knew she had made a terrible mistake. She immediately stood up, wore her clothes, and didn't want to make noise to wake the stranger up as she was ashamed of her actions.
Sara took her remaining things, quietly opened the door, and ran away without saying a word to the stranger. When she got to the motel, she blamed herself for falling so cheaply for a man she just met and also put the blame on Jose for making all this happen to her as it was his fault she was in this mess.
Sara decided to file for a divorce as she knew she wasn't accepted in the family she called hers and was not safe around them. Sara needed to end everything and start her life afresh.
A few weeks later, the divorce papers were ready, and she took them to Jose's place to sign. She knocked for minutes until it was finally opened by Fiona, who was wearing Jose's clothes. Fiona was shocked as she wasn't expecting her.
"What are you doing here?" Fiona stuttered.
"I am not here to see you. I'm here to see Jose," Sara said, looking at Fiona with disgust.
"And why do you want to see my husband?" Fiona said, flickering her fingers as she tried to show Sara the ring.
"He is your husband now? That's great, I wish you luck," Sara said, unbothered.
Fiona was surprised by Sara's response; she wanted Sara to act otherwise as she heard the news, but she didn't. Fiona looked at her, trying to know the reason for her presence.
"Babe, who is that, and why are you taking so much time there?" Jose asked as he approached the door.
When Jose got to the door and saw Sara, he was surprised and wondered why she was there. He told Fiona to go in, and he would be with her soon. Jose pecked Fiona on the lip in Sara's presence, giving her a smirk.
"Why are you here? If you are here to beg me about me accepting you back, it's not possible, as you can see I'm already taken, I am a married man," he said confidently.
"You married another without dissolving your past marriage? I thought you had changed over these few weeks, but you are still very stupid as ever, and I can't imagine I fell in love with you," Sara said, looking at him straight in his eyes, feeling disgusted.
"How dare you talk to me like that," Jose said as he tried to raise his hands on Sara.
"You wouldn't want to try that, fool," Sara said defensively.
Sara pushed the papers at him, handing him a pen.
"I wanted us to do this legally. I want an out and also so do you. So, do me the favor by signing these papers," Sara said as she handed him a pen.
"I can see someone has grown to make decisions. I'm happy for this. At least you've made everything easier and faster for me. Don't come back crying and begging me because I will not answer you. As you can see, I have gotten someone better, and newsflash – she is pregnant, unlike you, whom I married for five years, and you didn't give me a child," Jose said as he scanned through the papers looking for where to sign.
Sara was mute and didn't want to give a reply to his speech. She was happy for Fiona and prayed they both raised the child in the right way. Jose finally signed the papers and threw them at her as he closed the doors. Sara shook her head, picked up the papers, and left.
She could feel a sign of relief, a feeling she had never felt in a while. She had never been so determined before. She took a last gaze at the building, remembering the memories that came with it. She knew she needed a fresh start, she needed to go to a new state to accomplish this.
When she got to her motel room, she started thinking of a new start that would be more favorable to her, a start that would be far from her past. After a series of thoughts, she came to a conclusion.
"California... Yes, California," Sara said as she smiled, satisfied with her choice.
