Chapter 10 - THE CREW IS ASSEMBLED

We were all caught up in a heated discussion, sharing our ideas and concerns. 'How could we possibly walk around the city with an ancient creature like him? Nicholas asked, nodding towards  Dracos.

I mean, Just look at him,he looks like a drunk lizard that's been dried under the scorching sun for weeks. His scales are dull and cracked, and he moves like an old lady. No offence,If we take him into the city, people may see him as a threat, or worse, a monster.

They'll likely run for their lifes or call the guards to capture him up. How can we expect to move freely with him by our side?

Nicholas said, "But we need his help,if there's anyone who could help us find the dragon's tooth it's definitely him." Elora said calmly.

All of a sudden, I felt an energy behind me, where Dracos was standing. Then, we all stopped talking and turned back to see what it was.

I saw Dracos' body glowing as he laughed, "Hahaha, you humans are so funny." After he said that, he removed the necklace with the green pendant from his neck and handed it to me.

"Place this around your neck, Richard."

But before I could collect it, Elora asked, "How is this going to help us to pass through the gates!"

Even I was confused, but I took the necklace from his hand.

Nicholas stood with his hands folded, "Just take it." He said, he was tired of all the talking and wanted us to go straight ahead to the point.

Then, I placed the object around my neck.

Almost immediately, Draco's glowing dragon form, floated towards me, and then, in a mesmerizing sight, his entire body was slowly absorbed into the green gem on the necklace pendant while it was still around my neck.

As Dracos disappeared into the stone, his energy and essence merged with the gem's mystical power, causing it to glow with an intense, fiery green light.

The gem's deep green color seemed to deepen even further, as if infused with the dragon's fiery spirit, and I could feel the weight of Dracos' presence now residing within the stone.

"Is he still alive, is he in there?" Elora asked, hitting the pendant with her index finger. "Ahhh...Sir Dracos, are you there?" After I asked, the green gem blinked twice, then I knew he was alright, and we were ready to go.

I, Elora, and Nicholas emerged from the cave, our eyes adjusting to the bright sunlight. We climbed a big rock, and from that high point, we gazed out at the vast expanse before our eyes.

In the far distance, the city of Savoyen shimmered like a mirage, its towers and spires barely visible on the horizon due to the cloudy atmosphere.

We stood on the mountain above the cave we had just exit, my eyes still fixed on the distant city. "So, that's our destination. I asked, " Elora stood in between me and Nicholas, her hair blown back by the gentle breeze.

 "Savoyen, the capital city.

Our journey's end." Nicholas took a step further and Knelt on the ground with one knee, and a moulded fist on the ground and then squinted his eyes, straining to see the city's details. "It's farther than I thought. We have a long way to go."

For a moment the air was filled with absolutely silence, and all that was audible, was the sound of the forest ,the trees and birds behind us,and also, the quiet wind that blew through the mountains.

Suddenly, Elora turned to Nicholas, a hint of mischief in her voice.

"Hey, Nicholas? Can I ask you something?" "Of course, what is it?" Nicholas replied, his eyes still fixed on the horizon.

"I want you to teach me more magic, I've seen how you move and fight.I must be honest it's really incredible to watch" Elora said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Nicholas raised an eyebrow. "But you already know magic, Elora." Elora shook her head. "No, I mean... I only know healing magic. I want to learn more.

The kind of magic that can help us on our journey." Nicholas chuckled.

"You want to learn the fun stuff, huh? Alright, I'll teach you what I can. But don't expect to become a master mage overnight!"

Nicholas then turned to me.

He looked at me straight in the eyes for a few moments, from what I saw,it looked like he was making a mental decision.

And then,he pulled out a sword, and  handed it to me. "Here, take this. You should know how to use it by now. It's time you learned to wield a sword, especially if we're heading into the unknown." I accepted the sword, feeling its weight and balance in my hand. Then I nodded, grateful for the trust Nicholas had placed in me.

[Narrator's POV]

They stood at the edge of the cave, high above the ground, and gazed out at the city of Savoyen in the distance. The city's tall towers and buildings rose up through the thick fog, their peaks and rooftops visible above the misty clouds. The fog wasn't steady, it usually moved, sometimes hiding and sometimes revealing the city's majestic landscape.

Nicholas turned to them and asked, "Are you guys ready for this journey?" Elora and Richard shared a glance and nodded in agreement. Nicholas's expression turned more serious as he said, "Then let's get moving. We have a city to reach."

Nicholas's voice took on a more serious tone as he added, "Our journey begins. May our actions make a difference." A silence fell over the group as they stood there, taking in the view of the distant city before them. The weight of their quest hung in the air, a palpable force that seemed to stretch out the moment as they were charged with emotion.

Then, Richard broke the silence. "I'm counting on Savoyen's famous pudding to fuel our quest, though. I've heard it's legendary!" he said with a grin. Elora playfully rolled her eyes.

Nicholas remained stoic, his focus fixed on the road ahead. The necklace with the green gem around Richard's neck blinked twice. Richard said, "At least this guy gets it," nodding towards the necklace, and they both laughed.
