Chapter 13 - Chapter 13.

The little girl Lotte happily drooled in her sleep onto Chads arm that she was using as her pillow. Despite them not knowing one another for long the girl seemed to hold complete confidence in Chad as she seemed to be sleeping without any discomfort or worries about the man.

On the other hand, Chad had drops of sweat running down his face, his face was turned into a frown and he kept on mumbling in his sleep. He turned his open palms into fists and flexed his muscles which caused Lottes head to slide off of his bicep, but she only graned and continued to sleep. He seemed as if he were reading himself to fight as he then mumbled out.

" No. What are you doing to them? Leave them alone? "

In his dream, he could see a small rural village made of simple wooden houses and straw roofs. The fields around the village were empty and on the singular dirt road leading to the village, a convoy of Horse Drawn wagons carrying armed men with rifles was approaching.

All the villagers gathered in the center of town and watched the armed men with concern. Some had clenched fists and their faces seemed to be filled with anger, but they held their heads low and didnt say anything as the armed men came to a stop in the center of the village.

The village elder went to greet the leader of the men who wore a simple-looking green uniform with black boots and a fancy flat-topped hat. On the front of the hat, he noticed a red star with a sickle and a hammer. The man seemed like some kind of a soldier to Chad. Although he had never seen an army quite simple looking as this.

The other soldiers wore similar-looking outfits except that they wore long coats that went past their knees and instead of wearing a fancy hat, they simply wore woolen caps with a shabbier-looking star sewn onto them.

Then the leader of the soldiers pulled out a paper from his pocket and started to speak to all the villagers. Once done the villagers gritted their teeth and begrudgingly went to empty their barn and load all the grain stored there onto the wagons.

Under the soldiers gazes the wagons were quickly filled and the barn emptied, but there still seemed to be some space left on one of the wagons. Seeing this the leader of the soldiers face turned ugly as he then took out a pistol and started yelling at all the villagers.

With a simple gesture of his hand, the soldiers spread out and started to search for something. They tore down walls of the simple houses, broke furniture and checked the floorboards. Thats when one of the soldiers stopped and noticed something.

The man put a bayonet onto his rifle and pulled open the floor. Quickly other soldiers were alerted and more sacks of grain were discovered from under the floor. The leader of the soldiers seemed infuriated by this as he looked at the villagers and pointed his pistol towards them.

The villagers shook in fear, some fell to their knees and begged while some simply froze or pissed themselves. The village elder looked around his people in worry and then stepped forward and said something. An old woman standing at the side and a middle-aged man gasped in shock seeing this.

The soldiers quickly placed the old man against a wall and formed a line. The leader of the soldiers questioned the man at gunpoint, thats when the old woman and a middle-aged man stepped forward in protest. They seemed to be pleading with the soldiers for mercy and soon the mans own family, a wife and 3 children came to his side as well.

Unimpressed by this the soldiers leader simply spat in their faces and ordered all of them to be rounded up as well. Soon to all the villagers horror, the 7 people were lined up against a wall. All of them seemed extremely thin and at the point of starving, the youngest of the group was a girl that seemed no older than 6.

Despite this, the soldiers opened fire. Bullets flew, blood spurted out of heads and body wounds as the 7 people fell to the ground. Some of them were seemingly still alive, but in extreme agony, as they cried out in pain and struggled on the ground. The soldiers coldly looked at them as the middle-aged man still pleaded with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Uncaring of this the leader of the soldiers walked to the man and without a word put a bullet through his skill. One by one he went and put bullets through their skulls, ending their struggles for good.

The villagers cried and sobbed for their dead as the soldiers after gathering all the gran left the village. Then the dream changed and one after another he could see similar scenes of grain being taken from starving farmers onto wagons. All around people seemed to be starving and at a point of death.

Not only was this the case here with the soldiers, but he could sense suffering and death all around the world. Most of all he felt the suffering of the people closest to him here in Germany. Many were starving and weak, many were also suffering from diseases and many here seemed to be missing limbs.

The suffering of the Veterans of the Great War was strong. He could feel lots of anger and resentment emanating from them, many of them felt depressed and mentally unstable.

Chad could feel the light in his core pulsating as if it wanted to reach out to these people and help them. He too wanted to do something, no he needed to do something. What was the point of this power if he wasnt going to use it, he thought to himself.

With that thought his eyes shot open and he awoke. Looking around he could see that it was dark with only the moonlight shining inside to give the darkness of his room light. Next to him, he could see Lotte sleeping peacefully.

Not wanting to disturb her, he carefully got out of bed and placed his blanket gently on her. From his drawer, he took nothing but a pair of black pants that Else had bought him and then he put them on.

Without any shoes, he stealthily sneaked downstairs, he was cautious as not to disturb anyones sleep and like so he left the house. Out in the yard, he pushed out his wings and with a simple few flaps flew to the sky.

From high above he could see the city of Hamburg clearly and its many docks and shipyards. Even now during night ships were still moving along the river back and forth from the sea to Hamburg. The light of the city seemed as if they were stars in the night sky as there was hardly any light to be seen around the cities surrounding countryside.

Turning his sight towards the dark countryside a sudden thought came to Chads mind. Closing his eyes he focused on his core and sent small portions of the light there to his eyes.

Then as he opened his eyes again he was greeted with a much brighter world. With the help of his light magic, he found himself capable of giving himself a kind of night vision.

Amazed by his own powers Chad could only imagine what else he could do once he became even stronger in the use of this power. A wide grin spread upon his face as he thought of this and he said.

" Fuck I'm good. "

With his vision now clear he set his eyes upon the closest bit of farm land to himself. Only about a couple hundred meters from his home, he could see hundreds of big and small fields separated by small rows of trees stretching into the distance.

Seeing the vast amount of land before himself made him hesitate. His plan was simple, he was going to place stones of light much like the one he had used to create Paradise Island on each singular plot of farmland. But seeing the amount of land In front of himself now he wasnt sure if he could actually do this.

To create a stone of light like on the Island had taken him many years, so here he would need to create something weaker but hopefully effective enough to create a difference in this country at least.

Flying down onto the closest plot of farmland covered by wheat that seemed to be ready for harvesting, he crushed the wheat under his feet and dug his hand deep into the ground. With both hands in the ground, he searched for a good fist-sized stone there.

Once he found a stone good enough he placed it into both his hands and poured his energy into it. Once more like before he created an infinite spiral vortex of his energy inside of the stone and poured his energy into it for a good few minutes.

Once satisfied with his work he left the stone buried under the ground and flew to the next field of grain. Depending on the size of the field he sometimes spent more than ten minutes on the creation of the light stones. And, each time he took off or landed huge gusts of wind were blown in all directions damaging the crops underneath him.

Chads vision started to get blurry and exhaustion began to take hold of his body as he continued his work. Unknowing to him, his actions hadnt gone unnoticed.

From a small farmhouse a girl unable to find sleep thanks to her groaning hungry belly was looking out of the houses small wooden window into the darkness of night. That is when she saw something that immediately seemed like an angel in her eyes flying across the night sky and then landing in their field just a hundred meters away from her.

The girls eyes widened in shock as she then called out to her parents.

" Mama, Papa! Come look, theres an angel in our field. "

Rubbing their eyes tiredly the two young parents came to their childs side thinking that she was just seeing things. Until they suddenly heard the powerful flapping of wings and felt the gusts of wind blowing into their faces. Then right before their eyes, an angel-like figure flew into the air and towards the neighboring field.

Both parents froze with their eyes wide and mouths agape as they then did the sign of the cross and the father said.

" My god? "

Running into their field the family of 3 looked into the distance where they could see the Angel hopping from field to field and each time he landed in a field, they could see a small glow of light coming from the land under the angels feet and when he left it disappeared.

Just like this family, others also saw similar types of scenes in the darkness of night. During but this single night, Chad had unknowingly raised many peoples belief in Christianity to fanatically high levels.
