Chapter 4 - Her surprise visit

Later, Mrs. Thompson asked Mr. Jack, the driver, to drop her at her house. "Aunty, I can go by myself. You don't have to worry about me."

"How can I leave a young sweet girl like you to travel all by yourself?" Mrs. Thompson replied, her eyes filled with concern and a hint of motherly affection. "You call me Aunty, no? Then listen to me."

"Aunty, I'm not a kid anymore. I can take care of myself."

Mrs. Thompson's expression softened. "I know you're growing up, dear, but that doesn't mean I'll stop worrying about you. You're like a daughter to me, and I want to make sure you're safe."

"Okay aunty I will listen to your words."

Mrs. Thompson's face lit up with a warm smile as she patted Thea's hand. "Good girl. Now, let's get you home safely."

"Mr. Jack, please drop Thea at her house."

Thea skipped class to accompany her grandmother to the hospital. Her phone rang as she headed home; she saw it was Ryder's mother and picked up.

"Thea, would you be able to visit me today if you're free?"

"Who's calling you?" Grandma Grace asked, looking up from her seat beside her.

"It's Ryder's mother."

"Are you with your grandma?" From the other end asked Ryder's mother.

"Yes, I'm with her. We are returning from hospital."

Thea passed the phone to Grandma Grace, saying, "Aunty wants a word with you."

Grandma Grace accepted the phone from her and placed it against her ear.

"Elizabeth, thanks for taking care of her so much. I am really grateful to you for giving her love and support."

Grandma assured, "Of course, we will."

Thea couldn't understand what they were conversing about on the phone, but she saw a look of comfort on her grandmother's face. After some time, her grandmother handed the phone back to her. "Grandma, what did aunty say?"

"She asked us to go to their residence." Grandma Grace replied, her eyes locked on Thea's.

"Now?"

Grandma Grace nodded her head, a gentle smile on her face. "Yes, now. Ryder's mother wants us to come over."

She didn't understand why the Thompson wanted them to visit .She knew that the Thompson cared for them deeply, and she felt grateful for their unwavering support.

She caressed Thea's face, her touch warm and comforting. "I feel enlightened, seeing Ryder's family adore you so much. They truly care for you."

Her heart swelled with emotion as she looked at her grandmother, feeling a deep sense of gratitude and love. She knew that the Thompson had become like a second family to her, and in this moment, she felt grateful for their unwavering support.

The taxi pulled up to the Thompson residence . The sprawling estate was nestled among lush greenery, with manicured lawns and vibrant flowers that seemed to dance in the gentle breeze.

Thea helped her grandmother out of the taxi. She paid the driver and carefully supported her grandmother's frail frame. As they made their way up the winding driveway, the security guard seeing her gave her a smile and greeted her .

The Thompson residence was a testament to elegance and sophistication, with its sleek lines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and imposing stone facade. The massive wooden doors, adorned with intricate carvings, swung open with a soft creak, revealing a stunning foyer that seemed to stretch up to the sky.

Her eyes adjusted to the warm lighting, and she took in the lavish interior. Marble floors gleamed underfoot, and a majestic chandelier hung from the ceiling. The air was filled with the sweet scent of fresh flowers.

Ryder's mother, Elizabeth Thompson, rushed to greet them with a warm smile. "Madam Wynn, it's so good to see you both," she exclaimed. "Please, come in." She enveloped Thea and her grandmother in a gentle hug, leading them deeper into the grand mansion.

Thea's eyes wandered around the lavishly decorated room, taking in the opulent furnishings she had grown familiar with over the years. Yet, she couldn't help but admire the intricate details and elegance that still captivated her, no matter how many times she had seen them.

Elizabeth led them to the living room, her eyes shining with warmth as she gestured for them to sit. "I have been longing to meet you, Madam Wynn. It's been a long time since we've met."

Grandma Grace smiled weakly, her eyes clouding with memories. "Yes, Elizabeth,I hope this granddaughter of mine is not giving you any trouble."

Elizabeth's face lit up with a reassuring smile. "No, no, your granddaughter is so sweet. How can she cause us any trouble?" She patted Thea's hand, her touch warm and comforting.

Just then, a soft voice interrupted from the doorway. "Madam, the young master has left his tiffin here." Mrs Jane, stood with a gentle smile, holding out a small lunchbox.

Elizabeth turned to Thea," Can you please go with Mr. Jack and give him his tiffin?"

"Yes, Aunty!" she agreed. She followed Mr. Jack out of the room.
