Chereads / Love Me, Mr. Archer [BL] / Chapter 42 - A stair-chat - I

Chapter 42 - A stair-chat - I

"With all due respect," Brandon started out strong, "have you lost your goddamn mind?"

Which was until he lost it.

"I have 2 degrees in finance and in business with experience of five years, working in multinational companies with turnover and you want me to get sandwiches? Fucking sandwiches? Meg—"

"Hey, hey!" Megan held her hands up, stopping him. "Why don't you look at the picture? If the CEO knows you and knows you for what you are doing in the company, you might end up being promoted quicker. You know like, you're in his eyes, and he knows about you. So he might end up recommending you."

"And what is he going to know me for? Bringing him sandwiches whenever he wants?" Shaking his head, Brandon pulled away from the conversation and started walking ahead.

So much so for not wanting to be in the eyes of this man, now Megan just gave him a free pass to me.

Am I supposed to bring him some bitches or bring up the reports of finances?

Bran closed his eyes momentarily. What the fuck just happened?

The moment they entered the premises of the office, Brandon did not hold back on his speed. Megan could find her way now, and she was probably in the range of all the cameras, so she was safe.

Instead of taking the lift, he took the stairs and started running up them. After the fifth floor, he was out of breath but Brandon did not stop. After the 10th one, his legs started to burn, and after two more floors, they started to shake.

Finally, having had enough of it, he turned around and planted his arse the stair that was the last one to the 27th floor.

Why were there so many floors in the building to begin with? How many people were working here?

"Six hundred and sixty-five."

Brandon jumped before turning around halfway and finding Killian standing two steps behind him, leaning his body to the wall.

"Wh—" he wheezed. How long has it been since I have physically exercised?

"Tsk," the corner of his lips curved slightly, quite impressive. You're going to feel at the job of a sandwich boy."

"Oh, am I?"

"Absolutely."

"Great," Brandon huffed, "I did not want one anyway. Now you can take it away from me, saying that I'm going to clearly fail at it."

"I did not say that."

How convenient for him to point that out. "Then why the fuck would you mention failing?"

"I wanted to point out the fact."

His hand twitched, but he bold them into fests. Brandon had never received such a strong urge to hit someone.

Would you be arrested if he hurt Killian or would he be fired—

No, I cannot afford to get fired or arrested. This would jeopardize everything. Apparently, the inheritance games or whatever sort of it, I am in, everything else.

"Well, great, thank you for doing." Must be why you are the CEO. Brandon got up and did not bother dusting himself. "Thankyou for the chat, I'm going to go back to work."

Brandon moved to the side, with the intention of slipping past Killian without touching him at any point, but his boss had other ideas when Kylian took a step to the side and stood in front of him.

It did not slip his mind that he was standing in front of the stairs, and one push would have been spiraling down thousands of stars that by the end of which would not be alive.

"Was pointing out facts not enough for you? Should I point out that you're standing in front of me, blocking me from going inside?" Was he snappy? Yes. Did he mind it? No. Absolutely not.

Killian however, might not have found it as amazing. He gave him a smile that could be defined as a simple stretch of his lips in return. "You seem angry."

No shit, Sherlock. "Do I?"

Killian nodded. "Yes, why?"

Everything in that second ran through his mind. He had the answer to his question, in fact he had many.
