Chapter 44 - A run to the shop - I

For a moment, Brandon thought of what was the worst that could actually happen if he denied bringing his fossil sandwich. It was just a sandwich that Killian had already eaten. What could he get, a verbal warning? Written one?

There was nothing more that could be done for just a small sandwich.

My work is more important in any way. I was so tired and this company brought in sandwiches. I am the one who is crunching numbers which is significantly more useful than anything else. So instead of going downstairs, he went to his seat and sat down in front of his desktop.

Stretching his fingers, he cracked his knuckles before going over and typing in his password. Seconds later, he was logged in, already on the job of work that Megan had given him.

In the middle of it, with one hand hovering over the calculator and the other one, holding a pencil, Brandon for a second looked down at what he had written on the piece of paper before looking back up, needing to proceed to look down when he noticed something else.

All of a sudden, his screen had gone entirely blank.

That's weird, I just pressed the mouse a second ago. Why did it go blank?

passing his work on the paper, he put the pencil down and reached over the mouse to click it twice for the screen to come up bright again, but nothing happened. He clicked again, and it was the same thing.

Brandon felt irritated now. His work was on pause because of this. What was going on? The computer worked fine just a second ago.

A pop up appeared on the screen and he blinked before leaning in slightly to read the text.

' I would like my sandwich. Make sure the bread is toasted with the cheese on it.'

"Wh-" he stopped halfway, clicking on the mouse, and then on the keyboard to get rid of the pop up. Nothing happened, he clicked again.

Did this thing just stop working on me? What sandwich?

He tried clicking the mouse, shuffling it around before going over to the keyboard and clicked on a few keys. Nothing happened.

"What is going on?" Brandon muttered to himself.

His phone pinged and he reached over to grab it. He had received a text from an unknown number.

'Sandwich or would you like Megan to forward my order to you?'

"It—" he paused, "it cannot be him. It cannot.."

picking up the phone, Brandon texted the Number. "You want a sandwich? Now? And you're bringing Megan, my senior into this?"

The reply was immediate. "Yes."

Maybe I can ignore this. Fuck it, why am I supposed to get a sandwich? Doesn't he have people for that? Order the fuck in?!

Another message came through.

"Hurry up, Wallace. I should have my sandwich in the next 15 minutes."

Brandon bit his lips as he stared at the text before looking over to Megan's cabin.

What do I do?
