Monday came and it stayed. No matter what, Brandon considered taking a leaf, his contract restricted him from doing that unless it was actually a leave out of sickness. If he took a sick leave, he wondered what he would do if he actually was sick. No one in New York was going to take care of him.
The healthcare system was not as great as the one they had in London. Which meant, he had to be the one to take care of himself, which meant taking himself to the hospital, discharging himself, taking care of the medicines and everything else in between. He could not afford to lose a sick day just because he did not want to face a boss.
The boss, actually.
Sighing, he threw off the covers and finally got out of bed. He still had ample time to get ready, but the way he felt about the day, time would pass by quickly.
His phone vibrated somewhere in the apartment, and he thanked himself for choosing a smaller one. He had kept it on a low ringtone, so the vibration was the only thing he heard accompanied by a low-volume ringtone.
Brandon picked up the phone, his eyes instantly finding who was calling him, and with the grin, he picked it up. "Alice! How are you?"
He was instantly met by beats that were too loud for his ear to handle. "Are you partying?"
"Yeah, mate!" She yelled. "where are you? Did we not agree for today? It's my birthday."
Brandon had forgotten about it, but then again, his ears got something else. "what do you mean not there? I'm in New York." he had told all of his friends about the transfer. He had not mentioned the stipulations and the will, and everything that came with it, but he had told them that he would be going to New York for the next three years.
"Oh, you are?" She tsked. "Well, that's too bad. I guess your grandpa took you there again. See you soon then! I gotta get back to bringing out my cake. Toodles!"
The music cut off and he was met with silence again. Brandon slowly lowered the phone from his ear to his side.
Alice had forgotten that he was in New York, even after he had told him multiple times, and not only had she forgotten that, she had also forgotten that his grandfather had passed away.
