"What happened to Amy? Where is she?" Iris demanded tersely, catching Asher off guard once more.
He remained silent, seemingly processing her words.
"Asher! Talk to me, damn it!" Iris shook him with all her might, prompting him to return to the present.
Iris attempted to read his mind, but she encountered jumbled thoughts. All she could pick up were the fond memories they shared while growing up, how she fell out with them, and finally, how her tenderness confused him. She had never read such jumbled thoughts since her rebirth.
The only person Iris couldn't read was her fiance, Tyler Harper. However, even though she could read him, this Asher before her seemed too confused for her liking.
"Ah! Yeah! Amy. Yes. Amy." How he behaved caused Iris to tear up again, and she moved away from him, understanding that being overly tender with him at this point would only lead to further confusion.
