Originally clouded by her encounter with that man, her mood somewhat improved with the phone call. Holding Josie, she saw a man leaning against the car in front of the building. He radiated warmth like the autumn sun, completely dispelling the last traces of gloom in her heart.
She raised her lips in a smile and approached with Josie in her arms.
"Wooden, why haven't you come inside?" The man was her savior, Wooden Drucker. She couldn't deny that fate was indeed a strange thing. Several years ago, they had a brief encounter at S. Drucker Hospital, and now, years later, he had saved her once again. If his boat hadn't passed through that area during that shipwreck years ago, she might have already been buried at sea.
Wooden Drucker smiled as he took Josie from her arms. "I went down south for a bit; I felt like I was going to mold all over. Had to come out and soak up some sunshine!"
