He kicked the car in frustration and cursed loudly. Luckily, no one was hurt. He took out his phone to call for assistance when Louis's call came in. He answered irritably, and Louis's mocking voice came through,
"Jonathan, I'm almost embarrassed to admit I know you. You managed to crash such a high-performance car onto a barrier?"
Jonathan felt stabbed in the heart by his mockery. Why did Louis always catch him in these embarrassing moments? Could he blame this accident on being distracted by a phone call? He had intended to sincerely apologize to her, but instead of accepting it, she had coldly rebuffed him.
Fuming, Jonathan turned to look for Louis and saw her bright yellow sports car parked across the mall. Louis, leaning against the car, waved at him and taunted,
"Wait there, I'll come pick you up. Geez, can't trust you with anything!"
