"Beast!" Jonathan gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath. Catherine chuckled bitterly, reaching out to take the cigarette from his fingertips and puffing on it casually.
"Why so angry?" she said. "He's always been like this—elevates a star to a certain height, then discards them, moving on to the next favorite. Who knows how many newcomers he's ruined over the years!"
Jonathan was infuriated by Catherine's nonchalant smoking, snatching the cigarette from her hand and shouting uncontrollably, "If you know how dark this industry is, why didn't you quit sooner? If you had come with me to America back then, neither of us would be in this mess now!"
If he had forced her to quit back then, he could be a skilled doctor saving lives, and she could be his glamorous doctor wife. They might have stayed in America or returned home, living a peaceful life together. Instead, they were now each struggling, hurting, and with other people by their sides.
