When she entered the bedroom, he was already in bed, leaning against the headboard with a cold expression that felt like an icehouse. She wondered if he was upset because Bruno had disturbed his sleep in the middle of the night. But she quickly dismissed this thought, knowing he wasn't the type to hold grudges over such things. Yet, what could be making him so upset? Feeling helpless, she decided to probe, "Are you angry because Bruno disturbed your sleep in the middle of the night?"
Her question seemed to make his mood darker. "Is that what you think of me?"
"Of course not!" She quickly denied it, pulling back the covers and sitting down next to him, feeling quite frustrated. "Then what are you upset about?"
Her innocent demeanor seemed to make him even more irritated. He pushed her down and pinned her beneath him, saying, "When you first came to Juárez, you caught colds all the time. Was Wooden·Drucker like Bruno, taking care of you every day?"
