"Mommy, wake up! You're burning up, I'm scared...," Nola sobbed.
Farah awoke to the sound of her daughter's cries. Half-asleep, she forced her eyes open to see the little girl beside her, naked and tearfully sniffling.
Nola had woken in the middle of the night, feeling unusually hot in her mother's embrace. At first, she thought it felt like being in Daddy's arms, but Daddy's warmth wasn't nearly this intense. She reached out a small hand to touch her mom, but pulled it back quickly—Mommy was burning up!
In Nola's young mind, her mother was invincible, someone who never cried, never got sick, and feared nothing. But now, seeing her strong mother so ill, she couldn't help but burst into tears.
