When Jonathan and Clarisse arrived at the hot spring town, it was already close to noon. Originally, it would only have taken about an hour and a half to get there from Juárez, but since it was a rare chance for them to enjoy such a quiet, private moment together, Jonathan drove very slowly. Moreover, it was snowing, so they arrived quite late.
The two of them first went to the front desk to book a room. Clarisse, feeling a bit embarrassed, tugged at his sleeve and whispered, "Are we really staying here tonight?"
Even though they had been together for so many years, they had never spent time alone in a place like this. It felt different from being at home—there was a faint sense of expectation in her heart, mixed with a bit of unease. They had never traveled together like this before, and she didn't know what it would feel like.
