Jonathan rushed out into the courtyard, taking a deep drag on his cigarette to calm the excitement that had surged in his heart. Yesterday, when he found out that Josie was his daughter, he was overwhelmed with joy, but actually interacting with the little girl face-to-face today was an entirely different experience.
In that moment, he admitted, he was scared!
Even though Josie had already called him "Daddy" on her own, he still worried whether his daughter really liked him. He had no experience dealing with a little girl like her. With Agente, a boy, it didn't matter if he was a bit stern or strict. But Josie was a girl, and she was extremely introverted. He had no idea how to connect with her.
It was truly a case of being afraid she might melt if held in the mouth, or break if held in the hands.
