Josie came out of the house and saw her in this state, climbing onto her uneasily.
"Mom, don't cry, don't cry..."
Tears flowed even more fiercely from Clarisse's eyes. She picked Josie up and kissed her. Fortunately, she hadn't told Jonathan that Josie was his daughter. Otherwise, if he took Josie away, she would have truly been left with nothing.
With tears streaming down, she said to Josie,
"Josie, be good. Play by yourself for a while. Mommy needs to lie down in the bedroom..."
Josie nodded obediently. She placed Josie on the sofa and went to the bedroom. Her heart was already numb with pain, and her mind was blank. She buried herself in the blankets and let herself cry out in pain.
Wooden had indeed told her a story, a very nice story.
