Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Goddess Lin Xuner

Instead of going directly to the ward to see his mother, Ning Xingchen went to the bank first, withdrew two hundred thousand in cash, and then went to the office of the chief surgeon. He kicked the door open and walked in, thinking, "Money talks, doesn't it?"

Dr. Liu, who was reviewing medical records, was startled. Frowning, he questioned, "Who are you? Who let you in?"

Ning Xingchen smirked, noticing Dr. Liu's unfriendly demeanor, probably due to his humble appearance, which led to a sense of disdain.

"I remember you're supposed to be the best surgeon here. This is a tip for treating my mother, Su Juan. Do your best, or else this money can buy your head." With that, Ning Xingchen casually tossed the stack of hundred yuan bills onto Dr. Liu's desk and left.

Dr. Liu's expression changed drastically, from anger to astonishment, and now to joy. He kept muttering, "I've encountered a generous, wealthy tycoon. Hurry up and humiliate me with money."

After arranging everything, Ning Xingchen's eyes reddened, feeling a surge of emotions. He dashed towards the ward where he vaguely remembered his family was.

Through the glass window, Ning Xingchen immediately spotted his mother lying on the bed, his elderly father beside her, and the girl he had been yearning for, Xuner.

Trembling hands, Ning Xingchen gently pushed open the ward door and walked in.

"Dad, Mom, and Xuner, I'm back." As soon as he entered the ward, Ning Xingchen couldn't contain his excitement and affectionately called out.

Lin Xuner frowned and softly said, "Xingchen, lower your voice, Auntie is still resting. You might startle her."

Ning Xingchen's father, Ning Kang, walked over slowly and slapped Ning Xingchen hard, his voice ringing out sharply, scolding him, "You worthless thing. I asked you to go buy some food and then you disappear for days. Can't you stay with your mother for her last few days?"

As his father scolded him, Ning Xingchen felt strangely happy, finding warmth and authenticity in it all. So, Ning Xingchen excitedly said, "Dad, hit me again."

"You ungrateful child..." Ning Kang almost had a heart attack from anger, thinking Ning Xingchen was talking back to him.

"Xingchen, Uncle is angry, just say less, let's go outside." Lin Xuner kept signaling to Ning Xingchen, also thinking he was deliberately being difficult.

But this was precisely what Ning Xingchen needed for his happiness. He hadn't fulfilled his filial duty three years ago; this time, he vowed to make things right.

...

Looking at the girl before him, pure and beautiful like a lotus flower, Ning Xingchen didn't hesitate. He hugged Lin Xuner tightly, wishing to meld with her.

"Xingchen, what's wrong with you? Are you sick? Let go, you're hurting me." Lin Xuner noticed Ning Xingchen seemed different from before, but she couldn't pinpoint how.

Seeing Lin Xuner again, Ning Xingchen resolved not to have any regrets in his love life this time. He made a decision: he would pursue Lin Xuner. They had grown up together, childhood friends, and Lin Xuner resembled a popular actress, Dilireba.

Before, Ning Xingchen didn't dare to confess his love because he had no house, no car, no savings, and his parents were sick, drowning in debts. Even though he secretly admired Lin Xuner, he felt unworthy and didn't dare to speak up. Eventually, when Lin Xuner married, Ning Xingchen didn't have the courage to attend the wedding. He was too cowardly. The man Lin Xuner married was a thousand times richer, a wealthy heir.

But now things were different. Ning Xingchen had money; he could give Lin Xuner everything she wanted.

"Xuner, I suddenly realized something. You look a lot like someone." Ning Xingchen flashed a charming smile.

"Like who?" Lin Xuner looked puzzled, not understanding what Ning Xingchen meant.

"Like my wife."

Upon hearing this, Lin Xuner blushed, her cheeks tinged with a tempting flush. Shyly, she asked, "Xingchen, what's gotten into you? Are you not sleeping well lately? You don't need to blame yourself too much. After all, no one can come up with that much money all at once."

Lin Xuner thought Ning Xingchen was too distressed and emotionally unstable lately, hence his nonsensical remark.

"Xuner, be my girlfriend. I will love you for the rest of my life." Ning Xingchen took Lin Xuner's delicate hand.

"Xingchen, stop joking, someone's here." Lin Xuner tried several times to pull her hand away from Ning Xingchen's tight grip, but he was too strong.

"I'm not afraid even if someone's here because there won't be anyone to keep us apart." Ning Xingchen said softly, his tone gentle.

"Ning Xingchen, Auntie's surgery fee hasn't been settled yet. Can we talk about us later?" Lin Xuner's tone was serious, but she didn't close the door on the possibility. Out of a girl's modesty, she couldn't just say yes.

"The surgery and hospital fees have been paid. The operation will be in three days." Ning Xingchen took out the receipt from his pocket and waved it in front of Lin Xuner.

"Xingchen, where did you get so much money?" Taking the receipt, Lin Xuner looked at Ning Xingchen with disbelief written all over her face.

"I made it from secretly buying stocks. Straight to the moon. But let's not talk about that now. Let's go in and tell my mom the good news." Ning Xingchen brushed it off casually. He didn't dare to tell Lin Xuner about the Godly Wealth System and the Multiverse Bank card; she would think he was crazy if he did.

Lin Xuner looked at Ning Xingchen with a meaningful gaze, retaining a hint of suspicion despite her silence.

Ning Kang, upon hearing the good news, smiled broadly, as if he had suddenly become years younger. And Su Juan, pale and frail as paper, looked at her son with a mix of pride and relief. She was a beautiful woman; may time be kind to her.

"Mom, in this life, we'll always be together. No one can separate us." Ning Xingchen held his mother's hand firmly, speaking with conviction.

Watching Ning Xingchen, Lin Xuner's eyes held a hint of fondness and love.
