Setting his food aside, Luke took a deep breath.
"Father," Luke began, his tone casual but with an undercurrent of seriousness that hinted at the deeper conversation he was steering towards. "I've been thinking a lot about my journey, about everything that's happened since I arrived here. There are moments that I still don't fully understand…"
"It's natural to have questions, Luke. Your journey has been extraordinary, to say the least," Father Wingate turned his attention fully to Luke, his expression gentle but attentive.
"There's something that's been on my mind, something I feel I need to clarify. You've always been someone I could trust, and I was hoping you might have some insight," Luke nodded, his gaze steady.
Sister Maria looked between the two men, sensing the shift in tone, and quietly began to clear the table, giving them space to talk.
