Amira made her way back to her quarters. As she entered, she spotted her Freya waiting for her.
"Freya!!" Amira called out in excitement as she rushed over to hug her friend, and they embraced warmly.
"What brings you here?" Amira asked, curious about the sudden visit.
"I was just visiting town and thought I'd drop by. I thought it would be nice to take you out of the palace for a while and show you a little bit of the town. What do you think?" Freya asked, her friendly tone putting Amira at ease.
"It's okay if you aren't willing, I will understand," Freya added, not wanting to pressure her friend into anything.
"It's okay Freya. I also need to get a few things in town," Amira replied, offering a small but genuine smile.
"Alright, let's go," Freya said, flashing a wide grin.
The royal carriage pulled up in front of the grand palace gate, its majestic frame catching the sunlight. Seated atop the carriage was Marion, his steady gaze fixed on the approaching figures.
"Marion?" Amira called out, her voice carrying across the courtyard.
"You're driving us?" she inquired, to which he simply nodded in response.
"Mr. Sherman is unwell, and the other Carter are occupied with their duties. I've been tasked with escorting the princess. It's an honor," Marion explained.
Amira acknowledged his words with a nod before gracefully entering the carriage with Marion's assistance. Following her, Freya settled into the plush interior.
As the carriage door closed with a soft thud, the horses began their steady trot, propelling the carriage forward.
"Do you know him?" Freya inquired, her curiosity piqued.
Amira nodded in response. "He also served in the war; he's from my hometown," she revealed.
"Speaking of your town, have you ever planned to visit your family back at home? Am sure you have someone missing you " Freya asked.
Amira shook her head.
"I don't, my family isn't very close-knit. I've always been independent, even when I was back home. I find genuine happiness here, surrounded by people who care about me, like Zyran and you," Amira explained, her eyes lighting up with warmth.
"You know you've got me. We're more than friends, we're like sisters," Freya replied, her eyes sparkling with sincerity.
"You're always so kind, Freya. I don't know what I'd do without you," Amira admitted, a smile playing on her lips, as they both burst into laughter.
Upon their arrival in town, they disembarked from the carriage.
"There's a play I have been meaning to watch," Freya mentioned as she gazed towards the imposing theater hall.
"A play?"
"Yes, a new one. Zeke promised to bring me, but he can't at the moment as he's off to war, so my only source is you," Freya said with a smile.
"A play sounds delightful," Amira responded with a gentle nod.
"Come," Freya pulled Amira along; Amira turned to look at Marion, and noticing this, he waved at her.
"Go ahead princess I will make sure our carriage isn't stolen" he told her.
"Alright, we will be back soon." She told him and went off with Freya.
They went into the theater hall where various people were seated, mostly noblemen, as the tickets were expensive and couldn't be bought easily.
Freya and Amira weave through the back roll where there were few empty seats. The front roll was all occupied.
They took their seats, the stage lights were still off and the curtain drawn. Freya brought out croissants from her back, which were packaged neatly.
"Really Freya, sneaking in snacks what if we are caught by the guards?" Amira said, her eyes searching around at the security, whose eyes were alert for any disturbance.
"Don't worry, they won't see, and if they d,o, we can simply flaunt your position to get off the hook. Buying snacks here is a waste as they are stripping us of so much money just because of our status," Freya said.
"You can be a little silly at times," Amira told her.
"That I am," Freya agreed, to pass the croissant to Amira; she collected it gladly.
The curtain was drawn and the play began, it took about two hours before it finally came to an end. It was a sad love story, and the storyline was interesting as the characters played their role well, and everyone was immersed in the act.
Everyone exited the hall in an orderly manner while discussing the play they had just watched.
"That was beautiful but sad; if only they let them be, maybe it would have been a happy ending," Amira said.
"Probably" Freya replied.
They came out of the theater hall and met Marion outside. Most of the carriages were already taking their leave.
"Let's head back. It getting late, we don't want Queen Miranda getting upset," Freya said.
Amira nodded.
