"Spare me, you and I have different routines, I sit with the governess all day while you train in the barracks," Amira said to him with a tinge of frustration in her voice.
"Why do you make it sound so effortless and enjoyable?"
"Isn't it?" she responded, her tone heavy with sarcasm.
Zyran couldn't help but chuckle softly, choosing to keep his thoughts to himself.
Danielle grasped her spoon tightly, her knuckles turning white as she watched their exchange.
As everyone dispersed to begin their daily activities. She hurried out of the dining room, tracking Zyran's footsteps closely.
"Zyran?" she called out, catching up to him.
"Are you heading to the barracks?" she inquired, and Zyran responded curtly.
"I am on my way there as well. I've been idle in the palace. I need to work my hand a bit. I suppose I'm not as accustomed to the soft life," she remarked with a chuckle.
Amira glanced up at Zyran as he nodded.
Amira bit her lips, watching as Danielle let a smile, tagging along with Zyran.
"Zee," she called, looking up at him.
"Can I come with you to the barrack?" She asks with a spread on her lips, Zyran tilts his head looking her up and down before replying.
"Why not I don't feel at ease leaving home anyway. He said. Amira's grin widened, and she gleaned.
"I will go change real quick, she said rushing off.
Zyran watched her go with a smile, Danielle smile faded. That little girl was going to be a problem if not taken care of.
Danielle bowed and said I will also go get into something suitable, she also made her way off.
Out on the field, soldiers were going about their usual business. Amira walked in with excitement written all over her face.
She was dressed in all black, wearing pants like the men, with her hair rolled into a bun.
Danielle was also dressed similarly, with a lean physique. It was clear that it wasn't her first time training.
She gripped her sword tightly at her waist.
Men marched around to scout the camp in quick steps, while others were busy with training.
"Wow, I've never been to a military camp before, it's so serious over here," Amira remarked, observing the men bustling about.
"Want to check out my office?" he offered, and Amira nodded.
"I..." Danielle started to say something but stopped as Zyran walked away.
"He's always got his eyes on her it's hard to get his attention," said Savvy, Danielle's maid.
Danielle turned to the other side and walked away.
"Your armor is made with hard irons I hope it is hard enough to resist the sword of the enemies," Amira said.
"It's hard enough; you don't have to worry," Zyran reassured.
"How can I not? You go to war every time with no one to care if you die or not. As your wife you know I will be sad if you get hurt on the battlefield." Amira's voice trailed off, her voice breaking.
Zyran pulled her close to him, his hand wrapping around her head as he covered her ear from the noise coming from outside.
He brought her head to his chest and placed it on him.
"What can you hear?" He asks.
"The thud of your heartbeat"
"How fast is it beating?"
"Are you sic_" she was saying about to raise her head only to be pinned back in position by Zyran.
Zyran's voice quivered as he spoke, "Don't move, listen to it beating fast for you. Since the day it became like this, I can't control it. All yours, Amira, my heart, my body, my soul, it's all yours. How could I plan otherwise for it without your permission?"
Amira's eyes sparkled with tenderness as she hugged him tightly and gazed up at him.
"What?" he asked.
"I love you, Zyran. You will always be my home," she whispered, her words filled with sincerity. Zyran responded to her declaration with a gentle kiss on her temple.
The tent curtain suddenly swung aside, and Aaron stepped in. He quickly averted his gaze, giving the couple a moment of privacy.
"What is it?" Zyran asked, still holding on to Amira, who was going to pull away.
"Your Highness, we have tracked down the location of the gold seal," Aaron replied.
"The gold seal?" Amira asked, looking up at Zyran, whose expression didn't change much.
"You are dismissed" he told Aaron who nodded and stepped out.
Amira pulled away.
"I will step out for a bit, you can wander around camp Ali will accompany," he said and she nodded, He stepped out.
Amira turn her eyes taking a quick intake of his office.
Ali stepped into the room.
"Princess Amira, let me take you on a tour around the camp," he said.
Amira nodded and tagged along.
They took her on a tour around the camp while constantly greeting some of the soldiers and introducing them to her.
Amira turned and her eyes caught sight of Marion's attending to the horses.
"Marion?" She called, walking up to him; Ali stood aside to give the princess space to have a chat with her friend.
"Princess" he called noticing Ali who stood a feet away he decided to address her properly not to raise suspicious.
"It has been a while, Marion. Were you transferred?" She asked.
"Yes, your Highness is taking care of the military horses in the meantime," he replied.
"I see"
"How's your puppies?" She asked enthusiastically to know how the puppies were faring.
"They have grown so big, Your Highness; if you like to see them, they are in my shelter. Nora has been helping out in caring for them in my absence," he told her.
"Oh, that's good. I will check up on them once I arrive back," she replied.
He nodded.
"I see you have been well princess," Marion said seeing how freely and more relaxed she was.
"I guess I have found my path, Marion, I am glad God decided to let me have this happy life," she said with a wide grin". Marion nodded his eyes briefly looking back at Ali whose gaze were fixed on him threatening.
"I guess I will have to go back to work now Your Highness am glad you are happy," he told her.
She smiled.
"I will tell Zyran that he should help in elevating your status and maybe help you retain your freedom," Amira told him.
Marion's eyes widen upon hearing this.
"Don't bother princess am just an irrelevant stable boy I don't deserve the attention of the prince" he told her.
"What but_"
"Am fine your highness I can take care of myself" he told her with a smile.
Amira sighed and nodded.
"I won't interfere then," she told him, and he nodded.
Someone moved away from the tent nearby and approached the field where Danielle was training.
"My lady" she called rushing up to her
