Kael's eyes widened and he stiffened, he wanted to believe that what he had just seen was real but was fairly sure that he had only imagined her body's reaction. He had watched her for so long and waited for her to wake up that now he was seeing things.
He convinced himself that what he had just seen was the work of his desperation, he did not want to have his hopes raised then dashed again, until she did it again. This time her finger did not just twitch, it moved and he saw it very well.
Kael let out the breath he had been holding and looked around wildly, his face meeting Arlo's who smiled and gently squeezed his shoulder. He too had caught the second movement of her finger and he was happy that the gamble had paid off, it seemed that Princess Yvette was not going to die, not today at least.
