When Kael got back to the palace he immediately went up to his room, ignoring all the guards and servants he met on the way who bowed to him.
As soon as he opened the door it seemed like the breath he had been holding went out and left him feeling deflated. He had been berating himself for leaving her alone when he could have sent some guards to take Arlo to the infirmary.
But now that he was at the door and he could hear her weak heartbeat he was able to breathe better. From the sound of her heartbeat he could tell that there was no chance in her condition and he did not know how to feel.
He walked closer to the bed until he was looking down at her and he saw that her cheeks were flushed and when he gently touched her forehead he frowned. She was burning up, that was not good.
