"Dad's" my eyes widened with surprise. "Why didn't you say anything before?"
"I am saying something now," she retorted and turned back to the daughter waving the tiny plastic hair that was filled with hair "Would it still be potent?" she repeated.
"Of course, it would, Felicia," the doctor nodded taking the sample from her. "What are we testing it against?"
"Hers and also as a family," Felicia said.
The doctor nodded and gave us a date for the final collation of results. As we left the hospital back to the car, an awkward tension settled over all three of us. I honestly had expected my mother – Felicia to react more to the news but she didn't even acknowledge it and I hated myself for being beside myself with happiness.
I felt since she wasn't maintaining the same energy, I was better off alone. Back in the car, I settled on the passenger seat beside Harry while my mother snuck in at the back of the car.
