The next pair of cadets were called on to the stage. They were the glutton Rica and a blonde with an extremely curvy shape for her age. She had a fierce look in her eyes unlike Rica who seemed playful and carefree.
Captain Lola gave the command for them to fight.
The girl by the name of Cilia West was the first to attack with a fierce kick at Rica's abdomen. Rica with a carefree smile on her face blocked the attack with a palm strike downwards and counterattacked with a round kick as she bounced from the momentum of the attack. Cilia with a determined expression crossed her arms to block the attack from hitting her face. The force pushed her back by three to four meters, causing the cadets to cheer in surprise. In just a few seconds, they had exchanged about four moves with each standing her ground. The instructors just nodded their heads at this while the egoistic nobles put on annoyed faces like they had some grudges with the girls. They had grudges though. How could they accept that two girls, also commoners, have this kind of battle experience and strength which would rival some of them and even surpass them. They felt embarrassed and annoyed about this, forgetting that they lived in comfortable palaces and mansions in safe areas while these commoners lived close to forests and jungles, fighting and surviving beast attacks and what have you.
The girls oblivious to this were in their own world. A world where they fought and battled to come out as the winner. So far, no one had landed a blow to even get a point, but they still fought on. Rica was carefree, like the duel was a walk in the park while Cilia was a cold and fierce girl willing to break through every obstacle in her path to achieve her goals and right now, Rica was in her path, and she didn't seem to care.
With a fierce snort at Rica, Cilia punched towards her neck area. Rica made to dodge to the right, but Cilia changed her trajectory in the last second and hit her squarely in the stomach. She used an obvious feint which wasn't that obvious considering how high leveled she was fighting. Even the instructors failed to notice and react to it. Cilia had won a point.
Rica stood up while holding her stomach but instead of pain, she was smiling like she had seen the most interesting toy ever.
"Yes! Yes! That's what I'm talking about. THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!" She exclaimed fiercely as she dashed towards Cilia. Cilia and the others were taken aback by this attitude of hers but before they could react, they saw Cilia's body sliding on the ground, facedown. Before she could get up, Rica grabbed her by the hair and punched her stomach fiercely. Cilia tried to block but she still got 4 punches in causing her to vomit blood. Her face was also bruised from the earlier slide, giving her a slightly bloody face.
Rica then lifted her right leg high up and struck down towards Cilia's head, but she dodged at the last second by ducking and in the process, she kicked Rica's leg causing her to stumble and fall, crashing onto the hard ground. Cilia not wasting time, kicked Rica's face causing her nose to break and blood to start flowing. Rica still managed to rise up and distance herself from her opponent.
They both stood a good distance away from each other while accessing themselves, their bloody faces, a contrast to the fierceness in their eyes. Before the others could realize what was going on, the two girls vanished from their positions and appeared at the center of the stage with bawled fists and the rest was history.
In the end, it ended in a draw with both of them passing out. They were soaked from head to toe in blood and sweat as they were carried away by the medics.
"That... was... bloody?" Belthrox muttered, confused.
"That was definitely bloody. I didn't think they were that crazy." Greg said.
"Rica is a psycho." Kaiden muttered with a defeated look. He was associated with a psycho and girl at that. Those kinds were the most dangerous.
The next battle was between Greg and a blue haired girl by name, Selena Rockwell. She was one of the nobles and belonged to a high-ranking family which was just below the 5 main ones. She had a haughty look on her face like she was on top of the world. Greg just had a gentlemanly smile on his face.
"Hey punk! I am going to show you just how weak you are by wiping that stupid smile of your face." She said with an arrogant smirk.
"Such insulting and savage words coming from a noble lady as yourself." Greg replied in a solemn tone.
"You can't judge me, you who plays with commoners like your brothers. I even wonder how you are even part of the great families?"
"You are right. It's because of our equality that we are part of the great families. Do you want to continue talking or we have our fight? I want to go back to my sweet bed."
"You mon... ahhh!" Before she could retort, she flew in arc and landed face first on the ground, breaking her nose upon impact. Greg, the perpetrator could be seen yawning with teary eyes like he would fall asleep any second. Selena seeing this got even angrier and made a dash at Greg, but she was sent flying again, this time twisting her right wrist in the process.
Gritting her teeth, she attacked again, trying to kick him in the groin but she failed. Instead, she took another flight across the arena, breaking her left arm.
"This..."
"This is bullying."
"No one insults the dignity of the main families and goes scot-free. Haha."
"That fucker. Just beating someone up because you don't get enough sleep. Tch!" Kaiden said with an annoyed face. He was the one who knew Greg the most among everyone here. He was that close to him that they could have been mistaken for brothers if it wasn't for their body complexions. But even in a sense, they were brothers as they came from the same ancestor according to the history of the two families.
In the end, she collapsed from pain. Greg just got off the stage with the same saintly smile as if he didn't just torture a lady to unconsciousness. Everyone just stared at him like he was a monster and he reciprocated by waving at them causing their eyes to twitch.
In the next hour, 15 battles went on and then it was time for the duel of the youngest cadet in the institute, Echo and a brown-haired girl called Gertrude Hermes, from one of the 5 great families. A family of speedsters with an affinity to elements like Light, Wind, Lumina, Lightning and an occasional Illusion.
Captain Lola gave the start for the duel.
