Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 - Reasons

"At the time, I didn't experience much of a backlash at the moment. The targets died and we quickly withdrawn from the location. Later on I stopped to think about what I did but knowing I was killing scum helped a lot." Allan explained. "I suggest you do the same. At the same time focus on you next steps. Don't let it consume you. But face it little by little."

Allan paused a bit then he continued. "I'll be honest with you, be prepared to defend your life and kill in the future. We struck first this time, but if we were a bit slow and weak, it would've been us that would've been dealt with."

"I understand. I guess I'll just have to deal with it." Said Sasha.

"What will I tell my parents when I meet them?" Keith asked. "Are they gonna still love me, a murderer?"

"They will, after all they'll have to learn how to protect themselves in the future as well. But keep quiet for a while. It's best if only we know about this for as long as possible." Allan said.

"Can they do it? They are such nice people." Tory asked.

"They'll be forced to. The world is about to change. We can only take care of ourselves. But we're better than most people, there is strength in numbers. And we also have the quality factor. We should be good for a long time." Said Allan.

"I guess. Can we go home, I don't feel like doing anything more today." Said Keith.

"I also wanna go home." Said Sasha.

"Let's go."

On the way home they were quite silent. Keith and Sasha were still struggling a bit with their emotions. Tory was relatively calm, but Allan could see that she was a bit shaken as well.

When Allan arrived at the villa complex, his phone started ringing. It was his father. Allan quickly picked up.

"Damn, I thought you were going to sabotage them. With your skills it should've been easy. But directly killing, this is too much. I don't think I can protect you. Why did you do that?"

"They sent assassins to kill us yesterday."

"I understand. I would do the same. But I still can't protect you."

"I never asked for your protection. Besides, I don't think they can link it to me or anyone else for that matter. Did you see? A pistol shot over 700 meters. Do you think it's possible?"

"I think you covered your tracks about the execution but the motives part is still there."

"I hardly think we were the only ones they had a grudge with. With their attitudes, they must've had many enemies so far."

"But you were the most recent, The others didn't have the power to do it before, or else they would've done it by now."

"I have alibi and many witnesses that I was at my villa the whole morning."

"You better have. I won't interfere in this matter. I hope you can deal with the aftermath."

"Don't worry. See you Sunday."

Allan turned on the TV. It was already in the news. People were shocked about this situation since killing didn't happen on noble areas of the city. Authorities knew that it was something targeted at the Billers family, but they couldn't find more detail for now.

"Do you think it'll take long before they come asking?" Tory asked.

"I'm not sure. My father told me he won't protect me. I'm not scared though, we did something impossible twice at the same time. Even if they somehow uncover my past it's impossible to be at two places at the same time. So it might take a while for them to discover."

"I'm a bit scared to be honest. This selfish move can hinder the movements of my family. Even though I'm kind of separated from them, I'm still part of them."

"I know, I feel somewhat the same. I must confess that I have been a little overbearing this time. Kind of forcing this onto you. But I had my reasons. Most importantly is to prepare you and the others to kill without hesitation. Second reason is to show the attitude we must have towards our enemies. And thirdly be prepared to dirt our hands when needed." Alan said. Then he paused for a bit while Tory digested. "You know the world is going to change. We just don't know how. Imagine if it was a zombie apocalypse and you had a falling out with another group over resources. Would you kill or wait to be killed? It's almost the same this time, or mentality must turn into survival mode."

"Why are you so afraid of the changes of the world?" Tory asked.

"One cannot achieve much by himself. We need others, and in this case we'll need each other." Allan replied. "Let's say you had the power to survive alone. But then you suddenly face a group that is a little weaker than you individually, but adding the numbers, you are not their opponent. What would you do?"

"Probably flee."

"Exactly, but in doing so you're gonna lose something. It could have been resources, or it could have been a chance to become stronger."

"I understand all of this but I still don't get why you're afraid."

"It's simply because it's an unknown factor. But its scale is huge. And to be honest I don't want to be manipulated. If I'm weak, that's the only way, but if I'm strong, I'll be able to break free."
