Chapter 7 - chapter 7

Eldric stood at the precipice, the emerald gemstone, the Shard of Wind, nestled in his palm. The desolate island stretched behind him, and the hurricane, now calmed, changed with the aid of an eerie stillness. Beside him, Sylvia surveyed the scene, a contemplative appearance etched on her face.

"So, it is it?" She asked, her voice echoing inside the sizeable emptiness. "We braved the hurricane, and all we get is a pretty rock?"

Eldric smiled, a bittersweet pang resonating within him. The Shard felt specific now, a weight imbued with a sad tale. "It is greater than a rock, Sylvia. It's a fraction of a soul, a promise of peace."

He shared his imagination and prescience along with her, the upward push and fall of the majestic wind creature, the betrayal, and the infinite torment. Sylvia listened carefully, a flicker of unhappiness softening her normal brash demeanor.

"Terrible creature," she murmured. "Trapped in its very own fury to see you later."

Eldric nodded, a newfound weight settling on his shoulders. The prophecy mentioned reuniting the Shards, but now he understands the gravity of his undertaking. Those weren't simply objects of electricity; they were fragments of broken spirits craving recuperation.

With a sigh, he grew to have his gaze far away from the island. "We want to get lower back. There are greater Shards to discover."

Sylvia smirked. "Speakme of getting again; how exactly will we recommend to descend from this little rock in the sky?"

Eldric chuckled, a nervous tremor evident within the sound. He'd been so focused on the Shard that he hadn't taken into consideration the go-back journey. His newfound connection to the wind, however, provided a glimmer of hope. He raised the staff, focusing his will.

The wind spoke back, swirling lightly around them. This time, rather than a chaotic trip, it shaped a swirling vortex beneath their toes, wearing them down slowly and accurately.

Their descent changed into tranquility, with the wind whispering secrets and techniques around them. As they landed again at the acquainted plateau, Eldric felt an experience of achievement, tinged with a solemn understanding of the rigors ahead.

Their journey back to the shattered nation-states was hard, filled with the risks of the Wildwood. They emerged at dusk, exhausted but positive. Eldric snuck lower back into the forge, the Shard of Wind tucked effectively within his satchel.

the next morning, but the information spread like wildfire. A determined figure cloaked in darkness had infiltrated the metropolis at some stage in the night, stealing a priceless artifact from the royal vault. Rumors swirled, accusing neighboring kingdoms, rogue mages, and even mythical creatures.

Eldric watched from the shadows as fear gripped the town. This was not the final result he'd envisioned. He'd been hoping to keep his quest a secret, fearing the repercussions. Now, he turned into an outlaw, a thief, in the eyes of the very humans he sought to defend.

Sylvia located him by way of the forge, her face a mask of worry. "The city's in a frenzy," she said, her voice low. "They may be blaming everybody."

"This is a disaster," Eldric muttered, his frustration growing. "I failed to want to panic."

"Perhaps it is time for a change of strategy," Sylvia advised, her eyes sparkling with an idea. "You are an outlaw now, proper? Why not act on the component?"

Eldric raised an eyebrow, intrigued by her unexpected scheming. "What do you have in mind?"

Sylvia leaned nearer, a mischievous grin spreading throughout her face. "Permit's go to the actual thieves," she whispered, her voice full of risky exhilaration. "those who might recognize wherein the following Shard lies."
