Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Larry's house was a mansion. Its walls were mostly made out of mirrors. And if that's not grand enough, there was an orchid garden and an infinity pool outside. It's the biggest house that I've ever been to. Also, the only house that I've ever been invited in.

Everything in the house screamed elegance. From the arcane paintings on the wall, the leather sofa, the luxurious chandelier that hang suspended on the ceiling and the marble-tiled floor that was so shiny I was afraid to set foot on it.

Larry's mom welcomed us affectionately at the door. She was the tallest woman that I have ever met. She was wearing the kind of dress that Nana wears only on Sundays and on special occasions (excluding funerals). She's fair-skinned and her wavy light-brown hair bounced when she walked. Larry is a screaming resemblance of his mom.

'Hi, you must be Florante! I'm Olivia. Larry can't stop talking about you since the first day of School'

She talked with subtle sensitivity that was both tender and warm. Her eyes shone with genuine delight.

'Larry never stops talking about anything...' I quipped.

She chuckled in agreement.

"Shut up you jerk!"

Larry gave me a soft elbow-nudge.

"Watch your mouth young man!"

Said Mr. Magsalay as he appeared from the back door holding a naked cat wearing a turtleneck sleeved-shirt and a bell necklace.

"Apologies if I'm being disrespectful, I am Jhonny, Larry's father." Said Mr Magsalay with his thick accent.

"Nice to meet you Larry's parents," Said I. "Thank you for inviting me over."

"The pleasure is ours, dear." Olivia and Johny looked at each other and smiled.

Then the three of them huddled together in admiration of the hideous feline creature named Mr William Shakespaw.

Mr William Shakespaw stared at me like that judgemental kid who enjoys staring at you at church during a sermon. I am not familiar with the cat anatomy but I swear Mr William Shakespaw would have raised an eyebrow at me if he had one. His peculiarly curled mouth slipped half-open and he looked unimpressed.

This cat sure has an attitude.

'What's wrong with him?'

I asked referring to Mr William Shakespaw.

'Nothing's wrong with him Florante, he is a Sphinx...' said Mr. Magsalay.

'Why is he wearing a sleeved-shirt?'

'Cos he's naked that is why...'

'Aren't cats supposed to be wearing fur?'

'Yes, but he's a Sphinx and Sphinx don't grow fur so we need to improvise.' Larry explained while tickling Mr. William Shakespaw's paws.

Their resting bitch face of a cat was named after an English playwright. It did not have fur and was wearing a sleeved shirt.

This family is 50 shades of weird.
