As soon as Percy and Maggie entered the drawing room, Baron Stokesworth rose to his feet and approached them most urgently.
"Your Grace, I am deeply sorry for everything," he said. "I have brought my wife with me this morning."
Percy beamed at Baron Stokesworth and shook his hand in a diplomatic manner.
"Welcome to Canterbury House," he said. "Was it a long trip from the north?"
"No, not at all!" the Baron replied instantly. Never mind that he practically set off the moment he received Percy's letter, picked his wife up, and raced the carriage throughout the night until they reached Canterbury.
The Baroness sauntered behind her husband and fell into a curtsy in front of Percy.
"Your Grace," she said in a solemn greeting.
"My Lady," Percy gave her a brief nod in acknowledgment.
