Chapter 51: Ruthar Awakened... Slaying Dragons 2 Art Of The Grim

"It has finally begun, my children!" A woman dressed in a total black cloak said just outside the Alchemist city.

She looked to be human, having no eyes, pale skin, long claws, a bald head, and a mysterious aura that coated her entire being.

As she walked, the plant life and trees withered and died.

She narrowed her eyes at the dragons she had sent flying into the city and let out a brief sigh.

"Get me the boy, my children!" She dug her hand into her cross bag, bringing out a small sculpture of a dragon. She muttered a few words in ancient context, coating it in her surreal aura.

After a few moments, she threw the sculpture into the sky. A lightning bolt formed in the air, striking it.

In the next moment, the sculpture had turned into a real dragon. This one was definitely different from the others she had sent before. It was larger and looked more brutal than the others.

"The original dragon! The apex dragon of Flame! I have summoned thee to assist me in my conquest to capture the dark child! Shall I attain thy assistance?" After speaking in her strange way, the dragon bowed its head for her, and she immediately climbed onto it.

Now standing on the skull of the dragon, she ordered it to fly, and it took off from the ground, soaring into the air.

The woman turned her head back to see the start of a blue barrier forming a dome around the city.

'There is no escaping; I'll finally make history for all Kaiju Whisperers around the world.'

---

Ruthar sprang into the air faster than the dragon could react, slashing his sword through its skull and killing it.

As he landed softly on the ground, he was immediately attacked by another dragon.

This was a white dragon, opening its mouth to blast layered flame-like ice. It was quick, but Ruthar reacted in time, stretching out his hand and firing a ball of flame, which canceled out the ice.

Ruthar did not stop there. He formed another flame ball and blasted it at the dragon. His attack struck the dragon square in the face. This stunned it enough for Ruthar to land the final blow, but he could not.

Another dragon had come from the right, hurling its tail at Ruthar's side. The blow was too quick, and Ruthar was unable to dodge in time, so he raised his sword to block.

As the tail struck hard against his sword, the force threw him across the street, crashing back-first into the wall of a dilapidated building before falling to his knees.

"Tsk!" Ruthar grunted, struggling to catch his breath. The number of dragons had become more than a handful in just a few moments.

'Oh yes, battling six dragons at a time is much more difficult than I thought. They attack simultaneously, but... I have new skills.'

Ruthar rose to his feet, feeling a hint of luck on his side. He watched the dragons, which had already made a kill circle around him.

They must feel very dominant, circling around a simple human.

'What happened to that pride books always talked so big about?'

"Hahahahaha!!! What a far cry... You are all dead!"

[Dragon output 10 percent]

Ruthar began to give off a red surge of energy. It was surreal and overwhelming, a feeling that made his entire body tremble—not from fright but from the raw strength pulsing through his veins. Without any further insight into this power, Ruthar went with his instincts and sprinted at the dragons with increased speed.

As he did this, three of the dragons opened their maws, blasting out flames, ice spikes, and green flames at him.

Ruthar was not fazed in the least. He dropped his left hand slightly to face the cemented platform, summoning a large wall of rocks that grew forty feet high before him. This wall shielded him from the full force of the attack before breaking apart into grit.

"Now my turn!" Ruthar spoke, going on the offense as he aimed his right hand at the dragons, forming three huge balls of flames in it. He blasted them not at the dragons but at the ground below them, creating a wall of dust as a diversion for his next movements.

'Now that they can't see me...' Ruthar bent his knees in a crouch and catapulted himself into the air.

Thankfully, the dragons were still diverted by the smoke and did not notice he was already in midair.

He maneuvered himself in the air to drop down on one of the dragons, plunging his blade into the back of its neck.

The dragon let out a roar of pain. Though the attack was too weak to kill it, it urged the dragon to crane its head around to see Ruthar on its back.

"Tch!" Ruthar raised his other hand high overhead and struck down at the dragon's neck.

A loud cracking sound was heard as Ruthar's simple force shattered the neck of the dragon, killing it instantly.

He rushed to attack the others while they were still dazed, stretching out a hand at the next dragon and shooting a mana-imbued ice spike at it.

The spike pierced through the skull of the dragon, sending it falling to its side with a split cranium.

At this time, the other dragons began to notice Ruthar's presence, but it was already too late as he shot ice spikes at two other dragons, shattering through their craniums with ease.

'The dragon output amplifies all my attacks. It's as though I have an entire stockpile of energy that can't be compared to.'

Another dragon came unnoticed until the last moment, throwing down its paw to squash Ruthar under its weight.

As the foot came close, Ruthar confidently threw out his fist at the dragon, striking it in the palm. To his surprise, the entire foot of the dragon shattered from the force, bursting apart in a symphony of blood and bones.

Ruthar did not give the dragon time to recuperate, launching into the air and grabbing the throat of the dragon with both hands in a hugging position.

He tightened his grasp. Though his hands were not able to take the entire size of the beast's neck, his attack made a huge impact.

With a loud crackle from a strangled throat, hot blood spilled out of the dragon's throat as it choked, shaking abruptly before going absolutely stiff and plummeting down to its inevitable fall.

'Even my strength is no longer human. I feel like I am a dragon myself... I feel unstoppable.'

This was a perfect skill.

The final two dragons dropped their jaws, igniting green surges as they blasted green flames at Ruthar. Slow and predictable attacks made him question their intelligence.

Luckily, he already had that planned out.

Ruthar stomped his foot hard on the ground, pulsating a load of mana into his movements. To his efforts, a wall of condensed ice rose high into the air, shielding him from the blast completely.

The dragons remained persistent for a while before halting their flames, with one of them shrilling as it took the lead in a malevolent charge.

'These dragons don't realize it yet; I am far superior!'

As the dragon closed in the distance between them, it bore down on Ruthar, fangs first, to bite off his head.

Although Ruthar had already seen the movements thanks to his eyes of foresight and senses, he jumped high above the dragon and landed on its head as it bit hard into the dust.

Taking the wide opening, he rammed the sharp end of his sword deep into its cranium, urging a loud shriek from the dragon as it went limp in its own blood; it was dead.

Now facing the final dragon, it held an expression Ruthar never knew dragons could portray: hesitation.

'Take that, fantasy novels. I'm scarier than a dragon. Especially with the eye of foresight and my sense skill, I can predict their movements as though I am reading a book.'

Ruthar felt confident, placing his hand on his chin and yelling, "What's wrong? Are you not here to kill me, b*tch?"

The dragon snapped out of its fearful state after hearing this.

"RAYAAAACCCCKKK!!!" It gave out a roar, starting to take off from the ground with thunderous flaps of its wings. It continued to rise in height until it was a good fifty feet in the air, bearing its mouth open as it rained down green flames at Ruthar.

"Weak!" Ruthar leapt backward, leaving the blast to create a large crater in the ground.

'If that blast scratches me slightly, I would be dead within seconds.'

He made sure to back off some feet before recalibrating for an attack. At this point, the dragon's height in the air allowed it to escape the fatality of Ruthar's magic attack. It must have been smart enough to realize that much, at least.

"You think you'll escape, weakling?" Ruthar crouched his knees, circulating a lot of his mana and wind magic into them. This was enough power to lift him toward the dragon.

With one final thought to his plan, Ruthar launched off the ground, meeting the dragon in midair. In a split second, he slashed his sword directly through its throat, beheading it before it could even realize he was there.

"I win!" Ruthar muttered after reaching the peak of his trajectory and beginning to descend, with the body of the dragon following right after.

'I won against a horde of dragons... I'm impressed with how far I have come already...' His hair whipped around him, and his body was a bit stiff, but as time went on, the regular notification of adaptations appeared he was finally able to move freely again.

As Ruthar was about to reach the ground he formed a wave of air beneath his feet breaking the fall for him to land softly on his feet while the body of the dragon crashed in turn.
