Chapter 36: Back to the Spade Horus... So That's What They Meant
A wave of cold water splashed over him, jolting him awake from a deep slumber. Ruthar struggled to get his bearings for the first few seconds.
He was somewhere very dark and had no clue how he had gotten there. 'Yeah, I was in the cottage when I got captured by some Exorcist group,' he recalled.
Now he was in a place he could barely recognize. The only clue he had was the guard standing before the metallic bars, dropping a pail of water and walking away.
This was prison.
Ruthar walked up to the bars and studied them for a while, as though something about them bothered him. After a short introspection, he scanned the cell and took in the unbelievable sight.
'A wonderful, spacious room!' he exclaimed, walking around the ten-foot cell while spreading his arms wide.
'Bars to keep thieves out and you always protected,' he muttered, placing his hands on the bars and pulling strongly to test their strength.
'A toilet, a rock-hard bed, and pets to keep you busy all day!' Ruthar furrowed his brows pitifully at the rats running around the cell.
'Even free food!' He eyed the cold plate of food on the ground in the middle of the cell. It wasn't a great meal, but given his hunger, it was a welcome option.
'No rent! I'm guessing this are 5 star hotel perks.'
Ruthar rested his back on the rock-hard bed. 'When will Aunt Kimara come to get me? This place stinks...'
As he thought of Kimara, Vance came to mind, and he felt pity that she might find the hut empty without him. He hadn't even said goodbye.
'After I settle things here, I'll make sure to go back and meet her, if she hasn't left,' he resolved.
[You haven't done today's quest]
[Penalty Quest will apply if you do not accomplish them on time]
'The system doesn't even care about my ruined mood, I guess I ju...'
Ruthar's body bulged at the sudden pain from his lower half. He quickly sat up to witness a heart-wrenching sight.
An arrow was deeply lodged in his groin. "KHAYYAAACK!!" Ruthar tried to grab his manhood, but every movement tripled the pain, plunging him into what he believed as hell.
"Don't think Kithara is soft. Mercy does not belong to this family."
The source of that voice? Ruthar looked up to see Tomaha accompanied by a few guards. In Tomaha's hand was a bow, and a quiver with three arrows was strapped to his back.
Tomaha had shot the arrow at him.
"Damn you, Tomaha!" Ruthar screamed, both in pain and loathing. 'Did Kithara send them to kill me in the cell? No, that's too stupid for her character, but for this idiot to be here, it must be something really bad for me.'
"Now let's see how much you can regenerate without magic, half-assed scholar!" Tomaha loaded another arrow and took aim at Ruthar.
"Why the hell are out doing this?" Ruthar grunted in pain, "I'm with Kima..."
"Oh you don't know yet!" Tomaha broke into a laughter that jolted Ruthar in a fear-stricken stare.
'What does that mean? It surely can't be good...'
"You still think you have a place here? Not after you ran like a coward from our duel!" With that Tomaha let go of the string propelling the arrow towards Ruthar.
It was a clear attack that Ruthar and everyone in the room could see, but the chances of him dodging were slim.
Not after getting his groin pierced by an arrow.
The arrow soared past the metallic bars lodging itself through and out the other side of Ruthar's skull, piercing directly through his brain.
Tomaha frowned turning his back to the cell and leaving with his final statement being, "I'm done dealing with the slave like Rova ordered... But Ruthar, why did you complicated things?"
"You should have died wherever you fleed to."
