Chapter 21: Daily Quests...
Ruthar's eyes shot open at the sound of a chime he was all too familiar with. He let out a low growl as he looked at the notification.
"I forgot I was in this dump... Shit."
[Your Daily Quest has arrived]
"When did I start getting those?" Ruthar sat up from the fairly soft bed and stretched. Clad only in his underwear, he quickly moved to get a bath.
Entering the bathroom, he was met with immediate regret. An empty bucket with worms crawling all over it...
No, that wasn't the worst of it. The skull of a man. Kimara must have killed him and left his head in the bucket.
"Dammit! She killed him after getting intimate with him... AHHHHH! How did Hendricks survive?"
Suddenly, Ruthar lost all interest in bathing. He shut the door and dressed in the clothes he had packed: a long-sleeved red shirt and tight brown trousers. The clothes were as thick as hell. According to the novel, the Exorcism Kingdom made their wears from materials that could withstand high temperatures and enemy attacks.
Ruthar sat on his bed to tend to the daily quests the system had given him.
"How do I make this work?" He tried tapping it, but nothing happened. After some concentrated thought, the system finally displayed his daily quests alongside another notification.
He read the first notification due to its concise and brief sentences.
[Extraction has now been limited back to 5 multiples since it has been over a month since extraction started.]
Ruthar was perplexed. Why would the system limit him again when he was gaining so much from extraction?
[Extracted skills and attributes above 5 multiples seem to be affecting Ruthar's health.]
As if the system read his mind. Ruthar found some truth in it. Every time Rotexa's abilities were extracted above five multiples, he felt her pain and struggles.
"Extraction occurred twice while I slept last night, and it wasn't easy at all."
Ruthar recalled nearly puking his guts out and struggling with a simple headache during the night.
With that concluded, he scanned through his daily quests.
[Daily Quest]
*Rewards: 10 Exp
*Difficulty: None
*Time limit: 16 hours
*Rewards: 25 Exp
*Difficulty: None
*Time limit: 16 hours
The two quests seemed easy, but on closer thought, Ruthar found reasons to call them hard.
Three liters of water with the size of his stomach would be a problem. Taking one liter would be a hassle.
"The system never specified taking it all at once. At least I can take it in small quantities until I'm done."
Ruthar went to the bottles of water he had packed into the hut and drank to his fill.
He did this for two or more hours, drinking and exercising to reduce the water in his gut.
When he heard the chime of another notification, he let out an exhausted sigh and collapsed onto the couch, unable to move properly.
[Drink three liters of water quest has been completed]
[Reward: 10 Exp]
That was ten more points closer to leveling up. Ruthar took some time to catch his breath before sitting upright.
"I haven't had my breakfast yet... Damn, I can't cook!" Ruthar clasped his head with his hands and glared woefully at the bags of provisions he had dropped near the small kitchen.
Regretfully, he walked up to one of the snacks, opened it, and picked a bunch of bananas. These were the only edible foods he could eat without cooking, unfortunately.
Ruthar quickly finished the bunch before going to another bag where he found a few weapons. He selected a blue sword, filled from the hilt and cased its appearance. It had wonderful intricate carvings, a sharp wide blade, light weight, and best of all, its durability to Sword Arts.
This was no training sword, but a weapon of a real Exorcist.
He picked it up, placed it into the selected scabbard, and strapped it to his waist.
"I'm off."
Already prepared, Ruthar left the hut, shutting the door behind him.
He first scanned his surroundings to see if the monster leopard was still there. After a long inspection, he figured it had left. Probably a night-hunting creature.
Ruthar stepped out of his protective circle, gripping his hilt, and cautiously walked into the wild of the forest. It was noisier than at night, making it easier to predict when a creature was coming due to the brightness.
"I need to find a pond quickly and return as soon as I can to train," Ruthar exclaimed to himself, increasing his pace with thoughts of Elara clouding his mind.

[Kill and eat three Deathcall fishes has been completed]
[Rewards: 25 Exp]
Ruthar dropped the skeletal frame of the final fish he had consumed onto the ground.
Hours ago, he had found the pond and hunted down the Deathcall fishes. They were like piranhas but with rock-like shells that made them almost impossible to kill.
Thanks to extracting Rotexa's ability to cut through rock, he was able to kill a good number of them and complete the quest.
[14/50]
Ruthar took one final look at the number of monsters he had killed before dismissing it.
It was quite surprising that the quest did not disappear like the one from the previous night. This made him wish to kill more fish and complete the quest, but looking at his body's condition, covered in wounds from being bitten and scratched by the Deathcall fishes, he decided to call it a day.
"A night? What the fuck did I just think?" Ruthar sprang to his feet and gazed at the sky... The golden light of the sun was already dim.
He must have spent too much time finding a pond and smoking the fishes to even notice it was already this dark.
With this quick realization, Ruthar turned to the bonfire he used to smoke the fish, kicking a loaf of sand into it to put it out. Afterwards, he tightened his grasp around his sword's hilt and began to move more cautiously into the forest depths.
It was silent again... too silent...
"Ruucckk!" A sudden growl caught all of Ruthar's attention to a single figure glaring at him from a few feet away.
A white beast on all fours, with long claws, jagged fangs, rock-like skin, and an enormous size to match its killing intent.
"It's the same leopard from yesterday... back to kill me."
***Author's note***
Sorry for missing one day of release the girl I had a crush on disappeared for over several hours though I already typed I wasn't calm enough to post so she's back.... However... Only the make can understand...
She might no longer be a virgin... I'm not interested in her anymore after the news I heard (laughing). Let's keep reading.
