Chapter 9 - A Sign Of Mercy?

"Rest! Rest! Hahahaha! She is the one who needs rest." As if Sohpia had gone crazy, she laughed like maniacs and looked at Nora as if she wanted to kill her.

The doctor frowned as he heard the coldness in his voice. Even though he did not know what the matter was, he could feel the hatred of the woman behind the young girl. Moreover the condition in which she was found was not normal. Someone had tried to kill her in the water and named it as an accident.

But he knew he didn't have the power to stop rich women like Sophia. So, he took his fees from the servant and left from there. But there was heaviness in his chest. If he let a young girl die in front of his eyes, what would be the benefit of his degree!?

The doctor left with hurried steps, but the moment he reached his small car and the door was closed, he took out his cell phone and called someone,

"Hello, I need your help. There is a girl in danger, I think her family wanted to kill her."

"...."

—----

In the room, Sophia glared at the young girl as she slept peacefully in the bed of her daughter. The soft mattress she had personally chosen for Penny so that she did not have trouble sleeping was used by a pest like Nora. she could not accept it.

She looked around and when she could not find anything, she picked up the vase to throw on Nora's face. Her chest burning with anger. How could this girl be so vile?

She was resting here while her own daughter caught the eye of a monster. It was all her mistake.

She had no ounce of pity for Nora who was suffering with an attempt to murder. Nor did she care about her life. If Nora is of no use, why should they keep a girl like her in their house.

"Ha! It is all your mistake. My family is going to suffer because of you, while you will rest on the bed of my daughter. I must teach you a lesson." She raised the vase high as she walked closer to Nora.

The servant closed his eyes and his hands clenched tightly behind him. His face looked controlled but before Sophia could throw the vase, the door of the room opened and David entered with a red face.

His eyes widened when he noticed that his wife was going to kill a young girl.

"What the hell are you doing you crazy woman? Have you lost your mind completely?" Sophia froze for a second, her face filling with guilt but when she remembered what this girl had done, her rage rose again.

"Ha! Are you talking about me? Or this girl. Can you not see what she has done." she pointed at Nora from her other hand as she held the vase in one hand.

Her eyes and face red with anger making David scowl at once. He took quick steps and snatched the vase from Sophia's hands. The force was enough to stagger the woman and glare at her husband.

But he did not care. His anger was enough to silent her at once. Most of the time, David is a kind husband who lets his wife run the house and hardly interfere. Most of the time, she was busy with company matters and then he had a social life to maintain too.

He had given all the freedom to Sophia when it came to the decision of the house or upbringing of Nora and Penny. But it did not mean that he would sit silently when this crazy woman would ruin all of his future with her hands.

He threw the vase on the ground. The loud "bang" shook Sophia and she finally noticed how enraged her husband was.

"David.."

"Enough!" his voice was an octave higher than normal, "when you told me that i should invite benard and you have a plan, i should have known that i was making a mistake. I do not know why I believed you at that time, Sohpia! You have already done enough loss for today. Go to your room and stay there until I call for you." Sophia trembled with humiliation and rage, her eyes watered and she bit her lips hard.

How could he be so cold to her? She wanted to ask it, speak more but when she looked at his eyes narrowing, she left the room with muffled sobs.

David closed his eyes and shook his head. Then his eyes fell on the sleeping girl and he sighed.

"Mathews, bring the medicines the doctor had suggested and let the girl sleep." the servant standing in the corner, waiting for the young girl to die nodded readily. A heavy weight on his chest lifted.

He had seen the girl growing up and though he knew dying would have been a better fate for her, he still could not see it with his own eyes.

As David only gave one more look to the girl, the girl who looked a lot like his brother, he felt a strange rage bubbling his chest and he left the room too. He stopped near the door but did not turn back.

"And ask Martha to clean the room too." The room went silent at once. Mathew went to call for a maid to clean the shards. His footsteps slowly faded in the hallways.

The girl who was sleeping with her eyes closed slowly opened them. There was no hint of dizziness or sickness in those cold eyes as the doctor had predicted. Those eyes were like an abyss shone in the dark room.

"If you think this mercy will be enough to change my decision uncle, then you are wrong. The hatred I have received so far, I will return it to you soon."
