Things only progressively got worse since the day of that introduction. The elders didn't seem to care about me anymore, and barely included me in any conversation. And on the other hand, I couldn't walk two meters in the street without being called out for something I didn't even do. I was doing my best to bond with the villagers by attending to the poor and helping the needy with foodstuffs and all, but it seemed my hard work wasn't being rewarded at all.
It was difficult keeping a smile on my face while all these people cajoled me behind my back. Some of them have even grown bold enough to call me witch even with my guards around. I didn't punish them for that, it wasn't their fault, it was Zion's and he was the person I should get at for spreading these rumors about me. Although I had managed to get the support of a few, it was mostly the women and children, and they didn't have much say in politics.
