Sometime earlier. In Guardia chapel.
Hannah had just finished praying and was now having a conversation with her guest: The familiar handsome gentleman with the majestic looking hair whom visited the estate earlier.
"My husband and I discussed about reaching out to you, Mr. Mensajero." said Hannah to the man. "But we decided to trust our daughter by waiting for the time when she's ready to share us her secrets."
She chuckled at the thought of the man's presence.
"Never I would've thought that you'd be the one reaching out to us, instead."
"Well, I've caught word that Lady Evelyn had awaken and I simply came by since I was in the area." said the man.
He cleared his throat and asked the baroness more about Evelyn.
"On our way to the chapel, you mentioned Evelyn 'changed' ever since she woke up from her curse." said the man. "You said she lost her memories but, at the same time, she suddenly possessed all sorts of new knowledge as well."
"I figured while Evelyn was cursed, she was blessed by God with some sort of wisdom and it led her to know many new things." said Hannah. "But that's not all. She even knew matters from when she was still under the curse."
"Is that so?"
"I've been attending her Demonic Studies lectures and on many occasions I found my daughter uttering events that occurred merely three to four years ago. The period of time when she was still unconscious with the curse." said Hannah. "So it's not just that her mind had become so brilliant, but it was also as if she was bestowed with specific sets of knowledge. Abundance of knowledge."
"How about her behavior? How do you perceive your daughter so far?" asked the man.
"Honestly, she isn't like my 8-year-old Evelyn that used to sit on my lap anymore." said Hannah with a solemn face. "And I don't think I will ever see that side of her again."
But then her face turned brighter. Prouder.
"Although she still often worries me, but I'm glad with how my daughter turned out after recovering from the curse." said the Leonardo family head. "She turned to be someone brilliant. Brave. Strong. So full of life."
Hannah recalled the time when she kneeled beside her bedridden 8-year-old dying daughter. The great horror she went through as she witnessed the curse ate her child away.
"Evelyn has become someone my past self from eight years ago couldn't possibly imagine her to be."
The man nodded, "Even for me who was a stranger, it was hard to see the girl suffered like that."
Hannah started shedding tears.
"The only thing I could think of about my daughter back then was whether to hope she could be strong enough to fight off the curse or to hope her to become weak enough so she could soon die and not prolong her misery."
"You and the baron were really in a difficult position at the time." said the man.
"Yes... Yes, we were..."
Hannah suddenly wiped her tears and looked straight into the man's eyes.
"But then you said something to my husband and I. Something that gave us strength to fight for our daughter." said Hannah. "Do you perhaps remember it?"
The man nodded as he recalled speaking those words to the baroness and the baron by the bedridden Evelyn in the past.
[Your daughter is now standing at the crossroad of destiny. Staring at two grand paths of fate.
[Which direction she will take is known by none but Einsof alone.
[Should the girl failed her battle against evil and had her life claimed by the curse, then your daughter has been spared from anymore sufferings and has returned to Einsof's embrace.
[But should the girl won and rose from her slumber, then rejoice. For your daughter will embark on a great journey that will decide the fate of all.]
"We weren't really sure what you were talking about at the time nor how you came to say those things, but your words gave us the strength to keep our daughter alive and hope for a better future for her." said Hannah. "Bryce and I would like to thank you for that."
The man shook his head.
"Please, my lady. If you want to show your thanks, simply addressing your gratefulness to Einsof alone is more than enough for me."
He then looked to Hannah with a more serious gaze.
"So, after seeing your daughter so far, do you think what I said to you and the baron was true?" asked the man.
Hannah sighed at the question.
"Frankly, your 'prophecy' is what giving sense to what Bryce and I have been seeing from our daughter thus far." told Hannah. "After seeing what transpired from the Leonardo Pilgrimage to the Stonewall Quest, I really do believe Evelyn is destined for something great."
"And how are you going to act on that perception, Baroness Leonardo?"
Hannah replied him with a gaze full of determination.
"I'm going to stand by her side, of course! My husband and I will!" said the Leonardo family head. "We will support her in her every endeavor from this point forward. I swear that on the Leonardo name!"
The sound of many horses galloping was suddenly heard outside that it caught Hannah and the man's attention.
"Ah! It seems my daughter has returned!" said Hannah as she looked outside the chapel's window.
The baroness looked back to the man she was conversing with.
"Would you like to see her, Mr. Mensajero?"
Hannah and the man exited the Guardia chapel and walked back to the estate.
When they returned, the Leonardo soldiers had just arrived and were returning their horses back to the stable.
Giselle who was helping the knights spotted Hannah and the guest entering the estate and ran by to greet them.
"Evening, madam! Are you done praying at the chapel?"
"Yes, Giselle. I've told Einsof the matters of my heart and I shall be waiting for His answer." said Hannah.
She then looked around as if to find someone.
"Have you seen my daughter, by any chance?"
"Lady Evelyn is having a meeting with Captain Reich in the baron's study. Shall I fetch her for you?"
"No need, I'll go to her myself." Hannah then gestured to the gentleman. "Come along, Mr. Mensajero!"
The baroness and her guest went to Bryce's study and called out to Evelyn inside.
"Evelyn, this is your mother. There is someone I'd like you to meet. Can you spare me some time?"
Evelyn who was discussing with Hilda their plan replied to her mother.
"You may come in, mother!" said Evelyn. She turned to Hilda. "You're dismissed, Captain Reich. We'll continue our discussion tomorrow."
"Yes, my lady!" said Hilda prior making her exit.
Hannah and her guest then entered the room.
The baroness proceeded to introduce her guest to her daughter.
"Evelyn, Meet Mr. Gabriel Mensajero." introduced Hannah. "He was the first healer who treated you when you first got cursed."
Evelyn stood up and curtseyed to the man.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Mensajero. I thank you for all you've done for my sake in the past."
"Pleasure's all mine, my lady. And no need to give your thanks, I was just fulfilling the task given to me."
The man turned to Hannah.
"Baroness, would you mind giving your daughter and I a moment? There's something I'd like to discuss with Lady Evelyn alone."
Hannah couldn't hazard a thought on what the man would want to talk with Evelyn privately. But she was opened to the request.
"Of course! If that's alright with Evelyn, that is." said Hannah as she looked to her daughter.
Evelyn nodded.
"It's fine, mother. We'll see you at dinner."
"Very well." said Hannah as she was heading for the door. "Then, if you'll excuse me, Mr. Mensajero…"
"Baroness…" bowed the man.
Once Hannah left, the gentleman turned his gaze to Evelyn.
He walked closer to the lady and suddenly kneeled in front of her.
"It is an honor to be in the presence of the Chosen One of Einsof." said the gentleman with the utmost respect toward the Leonardo lady in front of him.
Evelyn looked at him with a gaze brimming with a sense of authority.
"One of the four Grand Servants of the One True God…. One of the four divine beings who escorted the Banished Men to the Promised Land in the west more than a thousand years ago… The Great Messenger of Einsof…"
Evelyn reached out her hand to the kneeling gentleman in front of her.
"Arise! O Archangel Gabriel…"
