"Have... you e-eaten yet?" Zarniya asked, brushing his hair as he lay his head on her lap.
"I can't eat without Master," he replied weakly, shifting his head to look at her. "I can't sleep without my Master."
Zarniya opened her mouth to respond but found herself at a loss for words. Why did it seem like he was being so pitiful?
It did not suit him.
Messiah and pitiful were two words that seemed incompatible. Strangely enough, he managed it. If no one in this room knew his true identity, he genuinely appeared pitiable.
Zarniya noticed that he had regained weight after the tea party. He seemed to have regained his vigor, and she was certain Messiah was putting on an act.
Messiah knew that Zarniya was aware of the pretense.
