Chapter 49 - Cleanup

Having finished his meal, Akira stood and looked at Archie, whose hair was now combed back. The new outfit gave Archie the appearance of a noble, reminding Akira of a great French commander from his world, called Napoleon. Archie asked, "How do I look, my lord?"

Akira replied jokingly, "You looked better before."

Archie, concerned, looked at his outfit. "Do you really mean it?"

Akira walked up to him, put his arm around his shoulder, and said, "Oh, you look just fine. Let's go outside; I need to deliver an important message to the townsfolk." As they were about to step outside, Archie hesitated, "I don't think I can afford this."

Akira reassured him, "Oh, don't worry, my friend. Jarvis here is apparently a rich guy." He winked at Archie before asking Jarvis to take care of the bill. Jarvis bowed slightly and said, "Of course, my lord." They then went outside to the center of the town.

Akira added mana to his throat and used sound magic to amplify his voice. "Residents of this town," he began, "I see none of you have decided to leave, and I really appreciate it. As for the noises last night, you don't have to worry about anything; it has been taken care of. Today is a big day for this town. There will be two things." The people, listening intently, murmured, wondering what the second thing could be. Akira continued, "First, you are going to appoint a leader who will represent the will of the people to me, and I will work on your requests through your appointed leader. The second thing this town will get—I will tell you all after the elections. The elections will take place at noon, so everyone please be ready."

Jarvis joined Akira and said, "Master, we have a few hours until noon. What should we do until then?"

"I want you to gather some workers. We have things to take care of," Akira instructed.

Jarvis looked at Archie and suggested, "I believe Archie's friends can be beneficial in this matter."

Archie replied, "My lord, my friends passed out drunk. I don't think they will get up soon."

Akira responded, "That's bad. Let me deal with this situation on my way. Gammagob, go to the forest and bring me at least five goblin cores." Gammagob nodded and ran towards the forest. Akira then asked Jarvis, "Can you arrange a horse and a carriage?"

"Yes, my lord. I will get it done right away," Jarvis replied and left. Akira asked Alphagob to bring two wooden crates so they could sit. Alphagob went to a nearby stall, grabbed two wooden crates, and Akira reassured the vendor that they would be returned. The vendor nodded as Alphagob took them.

As Akira and a well-dressed Archie sat in the middle of the town, Akira asked, "Let's say you had the money and power to solve any issues in this town. How would you do it?"

Archie replied, "I don't have enough knowledge, but I grew up here and know that this town relies on small sub-churches coming and trading, generating income. The location is key, but it's a double-edged sword. It is surrounded by rivers with small and old bridges that repel big merchants. They prefer the long way, going directly to Concordia. If I had to do something for the town, I would build better bridges and fortify them to defend against armies of neighboring kingdoms."

Akira nodded in acceptance. Archie continued, "We have the Kingdom of Ferrumhold and Noctilum to the north, the Kingdom of Duatt to the east, and Concordia to our west, with a mountain range to the south. If a war breaks out, this area will be vital to protect as it leads to every other kingdom except for Ellyrion."

"Good analysis. Very good. I'm impressed," Akira said. Archie smiled nervously, "Oh really, my lord? It's nothing much."

Just then, Jarvis arrived with a carriage and a horse. They heard someone calling for Archie. "Archie! Archie!" It was one of Archie's friends, who had finally woken up. They ran towards Archie, saying, "We've been looking all over the town for you." Seeing Lord Jarvis and Alphagob, they quickly apologized for their intrusion.

Akira asked, "Who are these people?"

Archie introduced them, "These are my friends, my lord. This is Ron, Jack, and Brook. We grew up together."

Akira addressed them, "Do you want to make some quick bucks?"

Still unfamiliar with Akira, they hesitated. Jarvis, reading their expressions, said, "Boys, this is my master, Lord Akira." Realizing he was the boss of their boss, they bowed straight and said, "Greetings, my lord. We will do anything you say. You don't have to pay us."

Akira told them to raise their heads and asked, "Do you guys know how to ride a carriage?"

Archie replied, "My lord, Jack is talented with horses. He can certainly do it."

Akira turned to Jack and asked, "Will you do it?"

"Yes, my lord," Jack replied quickly.

Akira then instructed Jarvis to prepare aprons and gloves for them. Jarvis complied, taking Ron with him. After a while, Gammagob returned with five goblin cores.

Akira asked Archie, "Have you ever seen summoning magic?"

"No, my lord. It is very rare," Archie replied.

Akira said, "Look closely." He placed the cores on the ground, and magic circles appeared.. With a bright glow, five goblins were summoned. Shocked, Archie and his friends stepped back but saw the goblins kneeling, unmoving. Akira assured them, "These are my summons. They will obey my command, so you don't have to worry."

Brook, the dumbest among them, exclaimed, "So cool! Lord Akira, you are very cool."

"Thank you for your appreciation, Brook," Akira replied.

Jarvis and Ron returned with gloves and aprons. Akira instructed Archie's friends to wear them, and they complied. Then Akira teleported everyone to the battlefield. Seeing the corpses and blood, Archie and his friends were chilled and scared.

Akira ordered Alphagob, "Cut down the trees and make a pathway through the forest to the town." Alphagob started chopping down trees with his greatsword and uprooting them with his raw strength. Akira then turned to Archie's friends, who thought they were going to be murdered.
