19. YES THEY DO!
Throughout the school day, Kay had come to realize how inattentive Sasha was in class. Though she seemed brilliant Sasha never actually showed any interest in any subject.
Kay on the other hand tried his very best to focus in every class. He soon realized how popular he was with the girls and instead of feeling more self confident he felt... Restricted.
He could not wait to be done with the spirit within him and his new personality for good.
There was some free time in class leaving Kay to do what he always did. Read his daily issue of monster magazine.
Sasha crossed one of her legs over the other and fondled with her hair as she looked over at him diligently engrossed in his work. She opted to ignore him for the first few minutes but her curiosity got the better of her.
"Whatcha reading there?" She leaned in so close he could smell her sweet perfume.
Kay felt his face get hot from having a girl so close up to him and showing interest in his work. "I-- it's nothing really?"
"Has you so worked up nerd so it has to be some boring maths quiz or some…" she curved her lips in a frown. "It's a dumb picture book."
Kay's eye brow shot up as he raised his voice. "Dumb picture book? How can you say that, it has words too."
"Seriously? That's your justification?" She asked. "Pretty much seems like something kids would read let alone a nerd. But then again you are a nerd. I bet you're an otaku too."
Kay mustered up enough courage to defend himself. "Stop it. That's mean."
Sasha pulled back and smiled. "I wasn't trying to be nice."
Kay frowned as he pointed at the magazine. "Whether you believe in monsters or not I don't care but please don't make fun of me, everyone already does." Sasha face lightened as she sensed his almost broken voice. "I know it's childish but..."
Sasha asked knowing she would regret it. "You are interested in monsters huh?"
Kay's face immediately brightened up as if his body finally woke up. "Uh-huh! Monsters are cool and fun and there are just so many of them. I know you might find this crazy but I always belive monsters existed, if not why are there so many stories about them?"
Sasha was dumbfounded.
"As a kid with no parents I didn't have much to rely on, I didn't like comics or story books but when uncle started got me my first monster magazine I was so excited. Even now I can't just stop!"
Sasha thought to herself. "A kid who doesn't believe in ghosts but thinks he can find the bogeyman or the monster under the bed? How ironic!"
She tried to sound as friendly as she could but ended up saying it the way she wanted at the end. "Monsters done exist four eyes so give up on them!" She had expected him to feel hurt or cry but...
"Yes they do!" He said with a straight face.
Sasha lashed back. "Monsters don't exist numbskull!"
"Yes they do!" He said with an even straighter face.
"Says who?" She asked.
"My uncle!" He straightened his face even more.
Sasha slapped her forehead and sighed. "No wonder you don't have any friends. Just accept the fact that monster are fiction. You saw a freaking ghost yesterday, one's in you now, how can you not be so pumped about that?"
"Yes they do --" he challenge with his eyes at the verge of popping. "--monsters exist!"
Sasha heaved a deep sigh. "Your face looks like it you are talking a really long fart so stop and listen. You have to try to be normal or you will never get a friend."
Kay relaxed himself. "I already have a friend, you!"
Sasha remarked. "You really are a nimrod!"
Before Kay could respond the closing bell rang announcing the end of another school day. Kay could hardly hide his excitement to be going to Sasha's house--
"Wait, you didn't tell me what your uncle does and how he can help my condition." Kilr screamed as he ran after her.
Sasha ignored him and continued her quiet walk out of the class.
"Why do I have a bad feeling about this?" Kay mumbled.
