Chereads / Two Petals of Demons / Chapter 23 - Actions have consequences

Chapter 23 - Actions have consequences

Every time I look into the world, I see the destruction that these gods cause in their mere fascination with playing with others.

The bubble battlefield that managed to take out so many people. The world that was meant to reach balance is undergoing utter chaos due to the actions of a mere few people. This also mimics what usually happens in other worlds, where the few strong enough to shake up the planet do so, and then it erupts and causes others to be roped into a mess that should not have been there in the first place.

We lost a lot of people in the battles that took place.

We were introduced to a lot of characters during the process as well.

We learnt about the power of these characters and the position that they hold in this story.

Everything is left up to chance, while at the same time, the end goal is completely different for these people.

People were out of commission for a while, purely because they started a spark that turned into a raging flame.

Everything has a price.

Each action, in turn, has a consequence. Nothing in any world ever goes without a price that has to be paid.

Everyone's karmic debt always comes due.

Nanami, the Servant of Benzaiten and the Avatar of Paimonia wondered about that, as he sat on the table with Naeve, the Servant of Haoma, and Kars-Nas, the Avatar of Astaroth.

"How do we return from this position?", he questions the table.

"I don't know, Sensei…", Naeve replied.

"We haven't lost anybody in this battle, but we have a lot of people who are still recovering after the battle that took place.", Kars-Nas said. "It's been three months since the battle that took place at the Void Bubble's- battlefield. I don't think we are ever getting Ramiel back, and it mostly looks like he will be taken over completely… Making him turn insane. We might have to put him down if that takes place Nanami."

"I will do my best to make sure that situation does not come, but we cannot leave that chance if it does. I know that you are attached to all of your students, but please remember that what we do here is for the greater good of the world.", Naeve replied.

"You are the hospital warden. The caretaker of all these people. If there is something that even you are unable to do, I trust you.", Nanami gave a soft smile.

But was evident that he was fuming from within. He was angry at exactly three people: Wellester, the Servant of Veritia; Radal, the Servant of Arawn and someone who had eaten the petals.

And the last one.

Is none other, than the one in the cell right now.

Gil, the Servant of Anubis.

A third-generation being who was forced to take the petals.

The Don who managed to succumb to the love of the Pale Princess.

Gil sat in his cell almost completely motionless, trying to recover from the actions and the energy he just spent in unleashing some of the most powerful attacks that the world had seen, all in a very short period

"Your meal is here!", one of Naeve's puppets came and put the meal in front of the cell door.

Gil didn't move. He just stared into the ceiling, as liquid fluids kept dripping from above.

His long hair didn't help, as it just covered up his entire face. He looked miserable, for one of the most elite positions that he held in the school.

He looked hollow and devoid of any pleasant emotions. Everything seemed to bounce back into him, as the relapse was finally hitting him.

"And what about Shikith or anyone else? Are there people that are there, who are willing to work with everything that is going on right now?", Kars-Nas asked Nanami. "We still need a few as manpower to control and look after repairing everything. I don't know what you propose to do at this stage?"

"Shikith is fine, as of right now. So are Larnia and Adoren. Call them for the tasks that you have. Leave Shikith free as much as possible, for I need the Servant of Nurture for some work later." Nanami replied to him.

"I am pretty sure his ship must be far away by now…", Naeve stretched herself like a cat sprawling herself all over the table.

The ship…

Radal's ship.

He escaped so fast that before Nanami could capture him, Radal managed to throw both Sakurai and within that time frame, threw himself into his ship again.

On the ship, Radal began performing the necessary aid to make sure that none of his wounds became critical.

He checked for major internal bleeding, major blood leakages, intact organs, etc.

After performing a full body scan, Radal sat on the terminal of his ship. Turning off the autopilot and sending it flying higher into the atmosphere. Over here, once he reached the limited boundary that permitted his craft to stay afloat, he slowed down the vehicle and went to the back of the vehicle.

He sat in deep pensive thought. His experiments had finally worked. The thing that he had been working on for so long was finally going to be paying off, or at least that was what he was thinking was going to be happening. He didn't want to lose anything and wanted to focus on the various outcomes that have just opened up right now.

Arawn: It seems that you are healing quickly from the previous battle. Good job on treating yourself. However, you already know what must be done.

"Yeah, I know. It seems so strange to think about it though. Imagine thinking about the various creatures that have roamed this planet, and the two psychotic lovebirds were the ones that managed to survive such a lethal dose of the flower's petals. I am as surprised as you are… but that might have invertedly caused the two of them to gain far more power than a normal person."

Arawn: You seem to be more interested in one of those two though, isn't that right? I can sense your innate fascination for the thing that the Servant of Anubis seems to have sacrificed to gain his power.

"That is so true. He- He truly is fascinating. From the way that he chose to command his abilities, to his ability to negotiate and get the better deal out of others. He must have been one of the most powerful allies that Nanami must have had."

Arawn: Remind me again who this Nanami was again? Ah, that Avatar and Servant combined. If I am being honest, he is much more special. A man of his strength. He bears the strength of being both a Servant and an Avatar in a world that is surrounded by maniacs that are trying to kill you the second you turn around the corner.

"But that doesn't mean anything when you are useless as well. I mean, he wasn't able to react to anything that I was doing. The strongest support means nothing without an attacker, with the same being true for the attacker as well."

Arawn: Sometimes, it is not about who is stronger, or the role that they will be playing on the battlefield. Sometimes it is all about the way that one can make a name for themselves. And the influence that they have in this world.

"What are you talking about? You guys are all gods in this world. What in the world do you mean that you need to be famous to survive in this world? This world entirely works on the power that is held by the masters. There's nothing that we can do. Absolutely nothing. So no matter how famous Nanami might be, he is completely useless compared to me on the battlefield."

Arawn: I wouldn't be so sure. Power comes with a lot of things. Just remember that nothing is without its price.

Radal sighs as he stares into the ship's window, and gazes at the stellar sky's view. He knows that he has to come up with a decision.

Arawn: It is not going to be an easy task, my servant. There are a lot of challenges and loopholes that I can already see. Are you sure that you are up for the task? You should probably heal for some more time.

"Time works funny in this world, my master. Therefore, fret not. I will work towards getting him. That man needs to become my ally. He is far more powerful than anyone else that I have fought against. He just needs to be trained properly."

Arawn: And then what about the stupid Pin that requested for the bounty to be collected?

"I shall thank Pin, for allowing me to meet such people with the pleasant gift of Death!"
