Leila's ears perked up with curiosity at the first solid piece of information about her childhood. She knew that Isaiah and Charlotte had her at some point, but she did not realise that they never hid her away from other people.
"I knew they found me, but I did not think they would have considered adopting me," Leila replied casually. "I am still happy and lucky they sent me to my grandparents. Still, I have always been curious about my origin."
Rosemary looked sympathetic. "I can only imagine how it feels to not know your origin even though you have a loving home. There is something special about being around people with whom you share blood."
Leila had never put much stock in biological connections because she considered her grandparents to be her only real family. However, she could not discount the importance of knowing her origin, especially when she was struggling with problems that could not be understood by regular humans.
