Xavier was stunned and froze for a moment as he looked at the two fluffy ears under his chin. Their colour was a velvety red with a brown undertone. He could imagine the red would be more prominent in natural warm light.
The ears twitched as Leila remained frozen in his arms.
His glowing red eyes followed the movement with keen interest like it was the most fascinating thing in the world to him. It was almost as if he could see every little muscle, blood vessel, and nerve in that small motion.
The urge to bite on the tip of those fluffy ears made his mouth water and his fangs ache. It was not a predatory instinct. It was one of those feelings that came when one saw something so cute that one wanted to squish and bite.
