After much thinking on how to solve the dilemma between which of the two Fire Pillar should he light, Silas had decided to follow Finn's suggestion earlier.
"We should step back as soon as possible," Silas said. "I will light those two torches."
Finn nodded, without a word.
Silas wrapped his arm around Finn's shoulder. He let one of the small fireballs to flew towards the Fire Pillars. It touched the torches in its tip. Fire blazed simultaneously, casting a warm glow that slowly pushed the centipedes in their path. The two hurriedly descended the stairs.
Silas glanced back at the burning torches, expecting a sudden change. But there was none. He thought he would hear the sound of gears after a few moments since lighting the torch, but there was nothing.
