Chapter 3 - Arthur - part 2

- Well, as you all know, our situation is this way because of creatures that call themselves demons, but before we talk about them, we need to talk about where they came from. First, apparently both demons and gods were once part of this world. Keep that in mind to better understand what I'm about to say. Unfortunately, we don't know the period, but it has been proven that a considerable part of human history has been rewritten. We don't know how much of history was altered before and during the periods that were referred to as BC and AD, but the important thing is that you understand that they were once on earth.

– Everyone is aware of the war, so I won't dwell on the cause, let's focus on the aftermath. The world was shattered, and the strongest nations were severely damaged. The war was extremely violent, resulting in the loss of billions of lives, making it the greatest tragedy caused by humans in recorded history. – William paused, took a sip of water, and waited a few seconds to ensure the students had no doubts. Seeing that none of them wanted to ask anything, he continued with his class. – After the war, there was an armistice meant to last for 10 years. However, only 10 days after the armistice was signed, on 06/21/2200 A.D., the entire continent of North America was attacked. This attack marked the beginning of the end of the A.D. era. In a single night, only 100 of those creatures destroyed most of the U.S.A.'s infrastructure and killed its military forces, then moved on to neighboring countries. Within a few hours, the military forces of these countries also collapsed, and the creatures moved on to South America and then Europe, and subsequently to all the countries of the world. After annihilating the army, they began to hunt humans as a sport for approximately 10 years. – At this point, the teacher paused and looked at the room, the students were silent. Seeing that no one wanted to ask anything, he continued the class. – Well, although no one has spoken up, I believe there may be doubts about what happened. To be honest, humanity was not killed in a day on their whim. This is not speculation; they came from a kind of portal that formed with blood in the U.S.A. This blood was not just the one spilled in the country, the creatures boasted after coming out of the portal that the blood was an incredible gift that our war provided for them... – At this point, a student raised his hand and waited for permission to speak, after the teacher's consent, the boy continued.

- Good morning, teacher. I'm Jonathan Lux, and I'm 9 years old. – Said the boy, adjusting his posture. He then inquired. – Teacher, if we've been controlled by demons until now, how do we have the society we have today?

- I would defer that to the soul class theory, but I believe it's acceptable to make some progress. After 50 years of being used as a hunting sport, we had a chance at survival. In the year 50 D.G, a voice spoke only these words before imparting the knowledge that enabled us to directly counteract those individuals, and what the voice said was precisely this. – Your choices have led to these consequences; you have breached the seal that you yourselves set in place beforehand and were nearly wiped out. But still, it's not fair... Now that the demons' seal has been broken, there's no reason to maintain the others. Your seal is broken, and as there are few of you, that alone isn't sufficient for your survival, so I will permit you to gain the inheritance once you integrate a part of your souls into your bodies. All the instructions on how to do this are in your minds, that's all I will do, now that those responsible for breaking the seal have already perished... at least that's what I will do for you who live in the world we chose... - Said the savior.

- The owner of the voice is called the savior, as we are still alive thanks to him. You will understand better tomorrow, as we will begin the process of union. But let's leave that for tomorrow, Jonathan. I may not have explained it completely, but it will come up in tomorrow's class, okay? - William said.

Jonathan nodded and fell silent as he gazed at the digital board, as if reading something. Observing the boy's action, William nodded and then turned to face the class. Since no one commented on the matter, he decided to proceed with his speech. - Well, I will continue now. As I still need your reports, I will advance some points and go straight to basic geopolitical division. It will be important for you to know this for the upcoming classes. - When William finished saying this, as usual, he paused and looked at the class. The sight made him sigh and smile. All the students had their arms raised, and their faces showed how surprised they were now.

Still smiling, William addressed the students without giving them a chance to speak. – You must have been quite surprised. However, this is not something to worry about. In this school, reports are required for all classes. This is the chosen evaluation method, in effect for a few years now. – William paused to take a sip of water, then continued with an even clearer smile. – But there's no need to be overly concerned, right? Since no one has interrupted me about the actual content of the class, I assume everyone has found it easy so far, correct? – Following the discussion about the report, all the students began taking notes, and they started asking questions about the material covered. This left William with little time to explain further, so he addressed the class. – Now that there are no more doubts... it seems I'll need to provide a brief explanation. Since time is short today, I won't be able to address all your questions. Therefore, I'd prefer you to include them in your respective reports. I will gather your questions from the reports and address them in the next class the day after tomorrow. – William positioned himself at the back of his desk, sat on it with one leg resting on the ground, and then began his speech.

- As mentioned earlier, I will only cover the main points today, as we will continue to study this subject. The most important points can be divided into 3 main topics. The first is the division of cities; let's use Brazil as an example today. Despite the country's size, there are only 5 available territories for occupation. The size of these territories is consistent, averaging 4,800 square kilometers, with approximately 1,000 kilometers or more dedicated solely to agriculture or livestock, which can vary or have both depending on the location. There is constant communication between cities via the internet and other means, but... contact and commerce between cities are extremely complicated. Most of it occurs underground, as automated trains do not require a driver and are difficult to attack. You will understand the reason for this tomorrow.

William paused to check the clock, took a deep breath, and continued. – The second point is why we can't expand and conquer more land. It'll be clearer tomorrow, but in summary, it's a space predetermined by the savior. These spaces were created when the seal was opened for humans, making possession more difficult. As we know, the seal was 'reinforced' in these spaces worldwide and will only weaken when the seal is completely broken. While this space doesn't completely prevent possession, the reduced probability gives us some relief. Main cities in all countries cannot be altered, meaning there's no way to change them. We have small towns and villages, but aside from online contact, there are no other effective types of communication, and we only provide assistance once a year in normal situations. – William then checked the clock and, seeing he had only 5 minutes left, decided to save the last topic for the next history class.

- Guys, I hope you enjoyed today's class. I'll be in the teachers' lounge if you have any questions. I wish you all a good training in the following period. Due to time constraints, we will leave the last topic of the political system for a future moment. And don't forget to leave your reports on the table, I will collect them after you leave. - All the students left their reports on the table and started to leave the room. After collecting the reports, William also left the room and locked the door.

The classroom was now empty, and all the students had gone to break. There was only one person in the room now. Just below one of the windows was a little boy writing something down on his pad.

The boy sat for around 5 minutes after the end of class and then he got up; the boy looked around, when he confirmed that there was no one nearby he sneaked over to the school wall, he looked through the hole he had found and when he confirmed that the alley was empty he passed through it and went to the other side of the wall and walked to the main street of the neighborhood. When he reached the main street, he tucked his notebook into his clothes and ran to Street 4.

When the boy arrived on street 4, he made his way towards the library. Upon entering, he spotted an elderly man who looked to be in his 50s. The man had white hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin that almost appeared sickly despite living in a coastal region. It was clear that the man had not been one to venture out much in his younger years. Upon seeing the boy, the man called out to him. - Arthur, hurry up and change into your uniform. Once you're dressed, straighten up the books on the lower shelves. After lunch, clean the bathrooms and keep the tables organized. Don't take too long, as we may have some extra visitors today with the start of classes. - Said the old man.

- "I'll change immediately, Mr. Albert," Arthur replied.

The old man nodded and went back to his seat at the desk while he read his book on the top of his workbench. Arthur then went to the bathroom to change and start his daily chores again. But today, unlike usual, he was extremely anxious. Arthur was excited to think about the lesson he would be listening to the next day, even if he wasn't in the classroom Arthur hoped that he would be able to complete the union process just by listening to next day's lesson.
