Barbara went outside her room as she felt suffocated inside. Standing by the stairs, she glimpsed her father with the count walking to the entrance.
"The favour the counts had given me will be remembered in my life," Bernat said, chuckling.
"It's my duty since we're going to be one family soon," the count replied.
Barbara frowned deeper, guessing that the count's intervention disturbed her plan. She greeted her teeth and clenched her hands, gazing at her father, Marquis Reylson and Count Clarkson.
In the evening, Barbara was in the garden sipping chamomile tea to ease her headache.
"Milady, there is a letter from you," her maid announced.
Seeing the royal seal, Barbara's face was etched with worry. Kristie was with her in the morning, so how was the matter so urgent? She opened the letter and began to read.
